Is the top 6 safe for those with amalgams? Empty Is the top 6 safe for those with amalgams?

i had some metal fillings replaced last year by a holistic dentist. however, i still have one tiny bit of filling on the side of one of my teeth and i have one crown.

now, many people are saying that those with mercury issues should be careful with ALA as it can mobilize mercury from the body to the brain - especially if one still has any mercury fillings - citing Andy Cutler's protocol.

Is there anyone here who has fillings in their mouth that is on the top 6? If so, are things going okay with the ALA?

jksl - Lipoic Acid is contraindicated if one is going through a mercury toxic, where the release of mercury in the bloodstream would be higher than normal, such as in DMPS or DSMA protocols.

is there a substitute for ALA to counter the oxidation caused by ALCAR? EC is a super antioxidant right? Do you think we can just up the dose on EC instead of adding ALA?

I don't think i'll get rid of the metals in my mouth anytime soon.

jksl - Lipoic acid should not be a problem unless you're actually going through DMSA or DMPS mercury treatments.

I developed a metallic taste in my mouth when taking a moderate dose of ALA and before having the few remaining (and leaking) amalgams removed. The taste went away once I stopped using the ALA. I have never used DMSA or other strong chelators.

takingaction - This is good you brought this up. How long ago did you have them removed? It seems virtually impossible to avoid some residual toxicity from amalgam removal.

In the spring. I was so rushed to get them out that I didn't hold out for a dentist using a safe removal method.
