Re: Longevity Post Video - Reverse Hair Loss/SHR Interview
Good stuff.
Couple of Q's if you've got a minute, please. Could you elaborate more on progenitor cells / sebum glands stuff, (sorry for the slightly over simplified questions)...
What causes this phenomenon?
How do you prevent and ideally reverse cells from sebum type back to regular ol' hair follicles?
Cheers

Re: Longevity Post Video - Reverse Hair Loss/SHR Interview
Columbo - Any type of inflammation or "aging effect" of the parent/progenitor cell will result in diminishing Wnt/Beta-catenin signalling activity.
This causes an accelerated sebaceous gland alteration (morphogenesis) and an increase in sebocyte differentiation.
There is also a similar relationship in aging skin, which includes enlarged sebaceous glands and reduced Beta-catenin protein levels.
One of these factors is called PPARgamma2 nuclear receptor. When it's up-regulated, it can increase the detrimental effects on hair, skin, etc. An activation of PPARgamma2 negatively affects Wnt, TGFbeta/BMP and G-protein signaling.
So anything that reduces effects/expression of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) is going to help. Some of these include (Vitamin A - Retinoic acid, Ecklonia cava, Curcumin and Trans-Resveratrol).

Re: Longevity Post Video - Reverse Hair Loss/SHR Interview
Nice, thanks very much, CS.
Wow, took me a dozen reads and some heavy googling to semi-wrap my ahead around all that, think I've got the general gist (and a stack of related studies bookmarked which I'll get through later)
And cheers for the practical / actionable recommendations
Cor, mind boggling the complexity of hair loss / growth

iuyyighghghgkh - Yes absolutely. Retinoic acid is animal derived vitamin A, and then there is all 8 isomers of E, and vitamin D. All definitely help out in their own way.
