Itchy Rash
I just started taking the recommended supplements. Most I have been taking for a few weeks but just started the Ecklonia Cava, antioxidant boost, and topical treatment two days ago. The rash is in clusters all over my body and really itches. On the site I have seen others having this issue with the Ecklonia Cava. So, I wanted to make sure that no one knew of another supplement that might be the problem, and see what I could try in place of the Ecklonia Cava if it is the problem. I am a 38 year old female...

Re: Itchy Rash
I know of at least two cases (although there might be more). Maybe it's an allergy or perhaps something else.
One of the cases, they used Pycnogenol in its place.
In the other case, they did a heavy metal detox and then Ecklonia Cava was no longer a problem.

New to this and something is causing hives...
Ok, so yesterday I only took a few supplements that I have taken for awhile and the hives went away. This morning I went back to the full routine minus the Ecklonia Cava and the hives are back. Within an hour of the supplements they start appearing in various places. They start on my waist underneath the waistband of my shorts and seem to spread randomly. Any ideas on which supplement might cause this or combination? I have wondered if the dosage might be too much for my size (5'2, 110lbs), especially the R-Lipoic Acid and Acetyl-L Carnitine. Here is my daily routine:
Acetyl-L Carnitine 500mg
R-Lipoic Acid 100 mg
Krill Oil 500mg
Zinc Balance
Vitamin A 10,000iu
Vitamin D3 2,000iu
BioSil
Molybdenum 150mcg
Biotin 5,000 mcg
MSM 1,000mg
Vitamin C 1000mg
Magnesium Citrate
Ecklonia Cava
Antioxidant Boost

Re: Itchy Rash
Thought I would give additional info about my hairloss history...
First, it runs on my dads side of the family for men and women. My dads sister lost most of her hair in her twenties as did my dad. I noticed my hair shedding in my twenties. I think I started with tons more hair, and without knowing it, helped myself by the exercise and diet routine I keep. Also, I had a child at 28 and 30, and both times the shedding stopped for the pregnancy. The shedding resumed after. I have tried Rogaine, which worked for shedding and regrowth, but no matter which type I tried, my scalp became super itchy. I could not take it.
Also, about four years ago I started taking Armour Thyroid. I could never get one of my numbers right on it (can't remember which one) and eventually switched to Synthroid 75. My doctor is open to both Eastern and Western medical practices, so if any of you have suggestions...
I do not eat gluten at all. Thyroid doctor suggested this a couple of years ago...
I think that is everything!

Re: Itchy Rash
How's your blood sugar level? Did you ever take any iodine? Any effect from Armour to Synthetic?

Re: Itchy Rash
My blood sugar has never been high when it has been checked. It has been awhile since I have checked it. Again, my dad and all of his siblings have diabetes.
I have taken iodine before when I first started the Armour. I do not now. I would love to come off of the Synthroid. I may visit a naturopath dr here that has a good reputation.
I do not recall any issues when i switched from Armour to Synthroid. I know when I first started the Armour my hair stopped falling out for a while.

Re: Itchy Rash
Although Armour is not what it used to be (Nature-Throid and/or West-Throid) are closer to the real thing. They contain all the natural factors. Also, iodine will improve (along with co-factors) the balance.

Re: Itchy Rash
Well, I think I figured it out. It is the r-Lipoic. If i leave it out i am fine. if i add it in, the hives come within thirty minutes. Apparently, this is a side effect with some. Now, I have to decide if I drop the dosage or cut it out...

Re: Itchy Rash
Update:
Looks like I can tolerate r-Lipoic acid at 50mg. I am thrilled because I did not want to leave this out! I decided to add iodine and talk to my doctor about the Synthroid. I also decided to cut out soy, peanuts, and most starches. I have been gluten free and dairy free (occasionally cheating on the dairy), so I am just taking it to the next level. My hair is still falling out like crazy, but I feel better and will wait and see!
