J. Crow's 2% Lugols Iodine
IH -- Is this J. Crow's 2% Iodine product safe to take for internal iodine supplementation? They are carrying it on Swansons now.
http://www.swansonvitamins.com/LGS001/ItemDetail?n=4294967188
It says something like "for Talisman use only". What the heck does that mean?
Also how many drops of it per day if order it to get 12.5mg of iodine a day? 2, I'm guessing?
Thanks in advance.

This is great news. Now i can buy vitamins and iodine at the same place now. I believe for 2% you need 4 drops instead of 2. Not certain though. Somebody must know.

hadrion that warning is a way to get around restrictions I believe. It's a perfectly safe lugols for internal human consumption. I should know because I got the 7 ounce bottle after realizing it was a far better deal than buying and paying shipping for the 5% one bottle at a time.

hadrion - I second zerx. It's only available by prescription unless they label it as a "poison."
It's FDA nonsense.

Yeah. I am also curious how much iodine contains one drop. I read somewhere that it is also important how you hold the droper if horizontaly or verticaly, but I presume we all drop it verticaly. Someone on swanson post a reply to this product saying that 2 drops are those 12,5 mg...

Re: J. Crow's 2% Lugols Iodine
SO, finally I got some info. Here is not JCrows, but very similar product 2,2% iodine: http://bloodrootproducts.com/Cancer-lugol%27s-lugols-Iodine-2.2-Percent-Solution-P16.html
And also some info here, hope this helps:http://www.altcancer.com/lugols.htm see the table on the bottom of the page.
To tell the truth I am pretty disappointed with the amout the 2% iodine provides..:-(

Nope - for the 2% solution, you need 5 drops to make abuot 12.5mg, and yes these will be vertical drops (holding the dropper vertically). Vertical droplets are smaller in volume than horizontal as such the distinction.

Re: J. Crow's 2% Lugols Iodine
Im sorry but I made a mistake when I said 7 ounce I meant 16 ounce. The confusion by me came from being told that the 16oz 2% was about the same as 7 bottles of the 1oz 5%.
So from the jcrows website I saved atleast $90 and that's not even accounting for the shipping savings.

So what's the consensus? 5 drops of 2.2% gets the 12.5 mg amount? I just want to make sure I'm clear before I start using this.

Dude, there is no science that says thou must ONLY taketh 12.5mg exactly.
You can go anywhere from 50mg to 100mg / day until you start to secrete 90% of the injested volume in Urine (I think that's what Dr Guy says), that's when you know you need to drop down to in the 12.5mg maintenance range. So initially, do not worry too much about getting it exactly to the digits - few mg here and there is no big deal. And it can take months before you start to get built up with needed Iodine in the system.
Yes, for 2% lugols solution, roughly 5 vertical drops would near 12.5mg Iodine.
