help with iodine dosage?
I have ordered this iodine
http://www.bobbyshealthyshop.co.uk/show-product-details.php?ID=51
As its 7% im very confused how much i need to be taking to get 12.5, 25 and 50mg.
Iv e mailed the company and they've told me that one drop equals 3.4mg and gave me this link
http://www.altcancer.com/lugols.htm
Im just still confused as on curezone iv read that 1 drop of 5% lugols equals 12.5 mg so how can my 7% only be 3.4mg?
Very confused and a bit wary of taking 14 drops if i want to get 50 mg. Im thinking maybe its a smaller drop from mine, who knows
would be great if anyone knows
Cheers

1 drop of 5% Lugols is not 12.5 MG of iodine...
Whoever posted that on Curezone is wrong.

Re: help with iodine dosage?
Hi m1234. I'm using this same 7% product. I based the calculation on the following info.
For the original Lugol's 5%, 1 drop = 6.417mg elemental iodine (can't remember the source). Therefore for the 7% solution, 1 drop = 8.98mg.
To get approx. 50mg (47.9mg), I mix 16 drops of the 7% with 450ml of filtered water in a measuring jug and dispense 150ml of this mixture for a daily dose. I find this practically convenient. I store the mixture (covered) in the fridge - probably not needed, but I do it anyway.
I've been using Lugol's for about one month. I'm not sure if I am benefiting yet, and I have and no side effects whatsoever.
Regards MAO

That's the correct dose for "j crows" horizontal drops. Vertical drops is half.

Re: help with iodine dosage?
Hey MAO
I 'think' iv worked it out. The normal 5% (in the states) is actually 5% iodine and 10% potassium iodide
http://www.jcrows.com/lugolsmsds5percent.html
So the 2% in the states is 2% iodine and 4% potassium iodide.
But over here i think the content of both the iodine and potassuium iodide is included on the label in percentage
Here's a 12% and its actually less than the 5% because the pottasium iodide is 7% and not 10%
http://www.healthleadsuk.com/supplements/liquid-concentrates-solutions-etc/lugols-iodine-solution-12/lugols-iodine-solution-12-30ml.html
So if im correct the 7% is only about 2.5%. If you look at the bottom right hand side of this link it says how they formulate their iodine (took me a while to get my head round it) and you can see they incude both iodine and iodide to get their percentage
http://www.altcancer.com/lugols.htm.
For the 7% it says they use 4000ml of distilled water (roughly 4000gm) and 200gm of potassium iodine ( 5% ) --think that should say iodide and 100gm of iodine crystal ( 2.5%). So that roughly makes 7%.
So 1 drop will only be 3.4mg.
If anyone thinks iv got this wrong please let me know!
What a headache!
