Anti-Anxiety/Depression Meds Empty Anti-Anxiety/Depression Meds

Post  NewReg Sun Jun 12, 2011 11:54 am

It's been recommended by a couple of therapists that my girlfriend take medication for her panic attacks and mood swings. She is has been against the idea of taking meds and recently saw a Holistic Psychiatrist who could offer some other options. They are currently working on several fronts, but the psychiatrist did recommend she consider medication (if only for the short term to get back to normal), so she is doing some research on them. Here are the options the psychiatrist put out there:

- Zoloft 50 mg and Risperdal 0.5mg
- Risperdal 0.5-1 mg
- Abilify 2.5 mg-5mg

My girlfriend is currently gluten-free, on a probiotic, B-12, fish oil (she doesn't like krill), and has tried 5 HTP with no noticeable benefits. Thoughts?

Would avoid the drugs at all costs as soon as possible, cause a lot more problems than its worth.

After a quick search there seems to be lots of options.

CS recommended,
"high dose vitamin D, fish oil, and magnesium, her anxiety will probably vanish in a few months."

*magnesium
*vitamin C
*ashwagandha
*l-theanine
*lithium orotate
*TMG
*vitamin d
*kava kava
*sam-e
*phosphatidylserine
*b6
*taurine
*chamomile
*licorice
*passionflower
*rhodiola
*omega-3's

Is a list somebody posted.

A lot of talk about niacinamide which I've taken as well and would recommend. If she can handle it, theres a lot of positive reviews regarding cold showers for anxiety over at Earth Clinic

Like chris pointed out, there's PLENTY of stuff to try before even thiking into using toxic med's.

Those med's which are linked to suicide, permanent damage to bodily sytems, diminished capacities and other awful things.
