... and i always loved eating them. On the bright side, apples are OK even very sweet ones, just not to excess. Honey also gives itch, so does rice cakes that are gluten free, maybe empty calories?

My poor mum has a terrible itching problem. Her whole body has been itching, 24 hours a day, for almost two years and nobody knows why. She is 78 years old.

She's tried changing washing powders, monitored her diet, been to blood and skin specialists, yet everything comes to a dead end. She keeps a bristly back brush handy for when she gets a mad attack.

It keeps her awake so she probably hasn't had a good night's sleep since it started. She frequently lies in a cool bath, often in the early hours of the morning, to relieve the symptoms which would have driven me mad within a week if I suffered from them.
