Something in the water? Empty Something in the water?

Can anyone recommend a worthy shower filter? We have extremely horrible water quality out where I live in socal and I notice that it just dries the heck out of my skin.

On a side note, for those of you who suffer from rosacea - I have struggled with it for several years now and think I finally have the brunt of it figured out and this is where the shower filter aspect comes in. I have made sure for the last 3 months not to wash my face with anything but spring water. Basically, I exfoliate my skin with my fingers and spring water a couple times a week. I have virtually eliminated my mild rosacea/seborrheic dermatits - no more pustules or papules after rubbing the flakes off like I used to have. I have tried multiple shower filters and have never been able to get results like these over the years.

Even though I still get occasional flushing due to emotion or certain foods, I never get the pustule/papule breakouts I was getting before. I truly believe there is "something in the water" that is very detrimental to our skin and probably our hair as well. Obviously this isn't the only aspect, but certainly aggrevates the problem.

CS, jdp, nid... what are your thoughts on the importance of a good water filtration system? And do you have any recommendations for a reliable one that eliminates the toxic elements out of the water we drink and bathe in?

unfortunate

The overly chlorinated municipal water certainly does not help. Otoh, I've heard that shower heads, especially those not regularly cleaned, are a good haven for germs that are detrimental to hair. How about a cheap solution- use a bucket and mug? Also, never use hot water to wash hair.
