Silver implant - Is this an issue?
Story:
I broke an elbow as a teenager, they placed silver wires to hold the bone in place. 10-11 years later that implant moved and started to cause inflammation. I had surgery for them to remove the silver. They did, however, a piece was lodged in the bone, the surgone dug into the bone trying to get it out then gave up. He said it wont do any damage, unless it eventually dislodges and gets pushed out then I will need ANOTHER surgery to get this last piece out.
2 months after the surgery I got a blood clot in the lung.. could have died. The doctors had to assume the clot came from the elbow surgery. They put me on a blood thinner (which thankfully didn't kill me).
4-6 months before the elbow surgery I was conned by a dentist into having a root canal.
Right around the time I was on blood thinner, i noticed my hair was thinning much faster than usual. It also was winter time. I was under stress as well. Not taking any supplements.
I told the doctor the blood thinner maybe caused hair loss (it is a reported aside effect) he smiled and said no, its MPB.
Been off the blood thinner over a year now.. hair is still thinning.
The story above is full of potential causes of hair loss.
I will remove my root canal tooth soon.
But, that peice of silver in my bone, it does not hurt, it cannot be removed.. Do you think it is causing some heavy metal toxicity??? how can I reduce the negative effects of this implant??

Re: Silver implant - Is this an issue?
teacup - All implants cause inflammation, but whether it will target your hair is not always certain. The material itself certainly matters. Is this a titanium/silver alloy, or silver based composite material?
If you get the root canal removed (a good idea), look for a biologic dentist who can do it safely without causing some residual damage.

CS - Thank you.
Residual damage as in what? .. jaw bone infection, or something else I'm not aware of?

Re: Silver implant - Is this an issue?
teacup - If a regular dentists removes a root canal or anything with mercury in it, the subsequent release of mercury released into the tissues can be great. The procedure in removing this with a biological dentist such as the ones from www.amalgam.org for example know of the safety precautions.

Re: Silver implant - Is this an issue?
CS - The root canal that I want to remove doesn't contain any mercury in it. I had the amalgams removed in the past, not sure was done right I probably inhaled some of the amalgam fumes on that day.
