Does anyone here monitor their blood sugar levels daily to avoid spikes?

I have a diabetic friend, she let me use her blood sugar test machine today, I was impressed. I am not diabetic but I am thinking that having one of these machines would enable me to test certain foods for high spikes in blood sugar allowing me to see what causes big spikes and what doesnt. Otherwise, I could simply find a glycemic index table and go off that. Of course, going off the GL will cost me $0 while the blood sugar machine is not cheap.

Did anyone here buy a blood sugar test machine for constant blood sugar monitoring throughout the day to help them avoid spikes in insulin?

Im sorry but I cannot give you any info on this, however look into "the warrior diet" if you want to teach your system to be more resistant (from what I've read).
