CS and everyone, i seek your advice on some medical issues:

1. My uncle has chest pain for the past 2 years but doctors/specialists here cannot find out the reason. It seems that the pain is constant, but sometimes it gets very bad. Recently, he got dizzy spells which would be ok when he is lying down, but not when he stands up. i know the info is limited but can you point out some possibilities which you think might be. He is currently due for appointments with 1.lung 2.neuro 3.heart specialists to try locate the problem again.

2. My dad has numb hands and feet, the hands sometimes felt numb till it hurts. i know it sound contradicting but thats what he told me. Apparently its due to something that presses against his nerves, but it has been removed last year. Till now, he still feels not much improvement. Is there anything he can take or do to enhance the recovery?

Thanks
NG

One thing you can do is check his b12 levels. Low b12 can cause tingling and numbness of the hands/feet, and other nerve problems. It could be many things.

Forgot to mention- My grandmother thought she was having heart problems and went to the ER for very similar reasons to what you're describing. She had a stress test done and her heart checked out fine. Apparently it was caused by gas, she has IBS. Is he stressed or anxious? Panic attacks can result in chest pain and dizziness.

Thanks paradox and CS,

CS: im assuming you are asking about my uncle? the doc only gave him some painkillers for the time being. He does not have any medical history prior to this. He did not undergo any surgery as well.

Paradox: I'll ask my dad to check on the B12 thing. Btw, what is IBS?

Anyway my uncle recently just went to see a chinese physician and according to her, its due to nerves that causes the chest pains. He is currently taking the TCM and i will update if it helps him. TCM takes a longer time for effect though, but i went to visit him on sunday and he said that the dizzy spells were feeling better.

NoGravity,

IBS- irritable bowel syndrome. Nerves or anxiety can definitely cause chest pains. What does TCM stand for?

Ic. i dont think he is under stress as he is currently not working and theres no financial problems for that matter. The only anxiety that is probable of the condition itself, that could cause a vicious cycle of the chest pain. TCM is traditional chinese medicine.

Aside from stress, anxiety is also linked to adrenal fatigue, hypoglycemia, heavy metal overload, and accumulation of toxins. Even incorrect breathing -- such as holding your breath -- can elevate blood pressure & mimic anxiety symptoms.

NoGravity - It maybe Peripheral neuropathy.

This condition affects the peripheral nerves, and often is caued by my demyelination or destruction/erosion of the myelin sheath (the insulation that surrounds the nerves).

I 2nd Paradox, have him try injectable B12 with folic acid.

Any idea what his GTT (glucose tolerance level) is? Does he drink alcohol?
