IH - going into dentist, need advice Empty IH - going into dentist, need advice

IH,

I have a cavity or something in one of the back teeth on my left side. It's sensitive to cold and biting hard in the area and I need to get it looked at.

I'm terrified from everything you've put in here about going to a regular dentist to address this, but I'm also not in a position to pay the money to go to the dentist in Texas who you've told us about who uses intravenous C and knows how to remove/handle mercury. I asked them to recommend a local dentist and all they do is send me the info about flying to them in Texas to get looked at.

If I'm going into a regular dentist here in the NYC area, what should I do if they tell me I need a filling or a root canal? I've never had a root canal before in my life, but I did have a dentist a few years ago tell me they needed to remove some fillings and put larger one's in. I think the area that is sensitive when I bite is where there already is a filling.

Do I tell them to just pull the tooth? I really want to go in armed with alternatives to request if they prescribe standard treatment.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

hadrion - It sounds like the root is still vital. Since it's in the back, your best bet is probably to have it extracted.

The IV-C is used during the extraction of root canals, to fight off the offending bacteria.

So if this is just a tooth (non-root canal) towards the back, having an extraction should go well enough.

If the tooth contains mercury or other composite filling, then you might want to consult a biologic dentist in the area.
