Had 2 fillings as a child but my teeth fell out and the new ones grew through, developed hair problems long after that.

Re: A question for all: Do you have any dental fillings of any kind?
When I was eight I went in for a teeth cleaning. My regular dentsist was away and his stand-in decided that my molars were "bumpy" , no cavities but "cavitie prone" so he put fillings in all of them! When my dentist returned he was furious. As I aged these molars have given me trouble and I have had to have two root canals.
My hairloss was aggressive between the ages of 20 to 25 but my supplement regime had managed to spare alot of hair . The worst it got was a norwood 2.5 but I have magaed to gain some ground back over time to a norwood 2. Recently my frontal hairline has filled in with tiny black hair that are semi-terminal. If they grow to full terminal I will be a norwood 1.

The polls kind of weird CS, as people can only have one selection per vote. No biggie though. Lost a front tooth at around age 14, it was a ceramic filling? without a root canal. I had basically no tooth left, it was almost completly shattered.

Dave228 - I agree, the poll isn't set up the way I originally intended. I deleted the poll and instead of it, will just read the answers.

I have two small ones in the indentations of the same molar. Not sure if this counts as one or two; have had it since I was very young.

Multiple fillings here. Considering using a Huggins dentist to replace.
No root canals though.

About 5 or so mercury fillings. A couple of the newer type of fillings. Got the mercury when I was 17. I guess I started losing my hair at 19 or so.

I've had like 4 fillings. I've had one root canal at age 19, my hair loss started at about 22. I have no metal fillings though, all the white stuff, I don't know what it's called.

The white composite material typically contains aluminum oxide, quite toxic.

hi cs,
should one ever need a filling are there any safe options out there? also i was thinking of getting a brace (i think you might call it something else its metal wire and pads that straighten the teeth) I suppose putting metal in your mouth cant be ideal. Although I dont actually kinow what the metal is.

Front teeth fell out when I was about 7 but grew back. No other teeth problems since then, no fillings.

Re: A question for all: Do you have any dental fillings of any kind?
valderama - The best thing to do is not get a filling. Instead, brush your teeth (or rinse) you mouth with water and plenty of salt. If you supplement with vitamin K2, especially the sublingual form and Vitamin D3 can assist with the mineralization of teeth.
The saliva itself contains most of the factors needed to remineralize teeth, provided there are no acids, so the salt with its high alkalinity can keep the acids from destroying the teeth, since the pH must drop to 3.5 in order to begin to dissolve them.
Finally, one way to quicken this process besides the above is to use Monosodium Phosphate. It can be purchased in veterinary supplies stores. Use a one-quarter teaspoon, stir in water and drink it.
Toothpaste is a bad idea since it contains glycerine, which prevents the teeth from being clean. So as mentioned before, just use salt water.

CS, are you saying standard toothpastes are bad for the teeth, or just bad for regrowing teeth?

Re: A question for all: Do you have any dental fillings of any kind?
tooyoung - Yes, they are bad from the standpoint of fluoride and the glycerin.

Re: A question for all: Do you have any dental fillings of any kind?
I have had one filling in my life but it was one of the white ones, not mercury.
CS, you mention cleaning as unnecessary or even harmful. I have a cleaning scheduled coming up but since it is no fun I'd love to know if there are any other natural strategies besides flossing etc to keep teeth clean (particularly at the gum line) and gums healthy.
Thanks.

Re: A question for all: Do you have any dental fillings of any kind?
huli - According to Dr Robert O Nara DDS, who wrote the book, "Money by the Mouthful, How to become dentally self sufficient" the answer to oral health is simply using plenty of water and salt to clean your teeth and gums. For gums specifically a water pik using salt and water is very effective. He has never found a returning patient using this protocol to come back for gum surgery.
Virtually everything in dentistry is unnecessary if the right precautions are taken (prevention).
If teeth are crowded, then using the waxed flossing tape works well.
