that's similar to how mine started going thin. now's a great time to take action and maintain what you've got while it still looks good (maintaining it infinitely easier than regrowing). I left mine 2-3 years before I cleaned up my act and it got thinner, eugh. what a plum I was.

What would you recommend?

Yes, I agree with this.

I was a young, diffuse thinner and mine started this way. But it was very far gone by the time I started thinking about any lifestyle ways of managing things. I would start right away with trying to develop habits with your diet, exercise, and supplementation to curb stress and chronic low level inflammation.

etc.

As I've done all this key markers of health have improved (can see abs again, fasting blood sugar nice and low, good blood pressure etc.)

That sort of common sense stuff is what stopped the hair falling out.

(And now throwing in some things like inversion, scalp massages, rebounding, topicals etc. in the vain attempt to regrow what I've lost. I'm jealous that you've had the sense to sort your hair out now when I didn't ha, smart man

Looks like I have these weird white-ish patches on the sides. Could this be normal?

This dude from the band Salem has pretty much perfect hair, but his hair also looks thinner on the sides (and also on top) when buzzed:
