EDTA for Hair loss?
Anyone have any thoughts on EDTA as a hair growth agent? I've come across a patent for hair loss which mentions EDTA:
"The effectiveness of chelating agents such as EDTA in slowing down hair loss seems to support the theory that baldness and increasing hair loss is associated with increase in calcium ion in the telogen bulbs."
Now I know that EDTA removes lead, and that should help with hair, and I've seen the calcification theory bounced around quite a bit... but never any mention of EDTA as a viable option as far as I recall.
There are more hits on this search I've yet to look at, so I'll probably be posting more.
I placed an order for some Medicardium (Magnesium/di-potassium EDTA) suppositories for chelation today. It would be great if as an added bonus they help the hair situation.
For those of you that have seen or remember the self 'test' for calcification in that Bragg's pdf book where you rotate your head around to see if you get that Rice Krispy sound (kind of crunching and crackling)... I have that.... So it will be really interesting to see if that improves during or after the EDTA.

Paradox - Yes, EDTA chelation is very useful for this. Lead is a huge problem and it is strongly associated with calcium, not to mention bad bacteria.

Re: EDTA for Hair loss?
Good deal... I'm glad I decided to go with EDTA (specifically the Mg and not Ca ones) and not just continue with DMSA/ALA. I'm going to keep an eye on how I feel and if that neck sound improves at all.

Re: EDTA for Hair loss?
Which dosage would you suggest? 1g?
I saw there are several EDTAs for chelation: EDTA, EDTA salts like disodium EDTA...
Are they all ok?
I'm willing to take 1g EDTA orally.

Re: EDTA for Hair loss?
I was about to make that post.
Yeah, EDTA is a huge chelator that can fight artherosclerosis, CV disease etc... bounding to Ca 2+ anf others....
Calcium deposit can be the cluprit here for hairloss.
It should be associated with Vit C , huge loading. 10-20 gr
(adding some lysine just to say hello to linuswould be a nice adding too)
Drink a lot. Water i mean.
I'm gonna make a go on that one, instead of ALA, humifulvate or MC pectin, taurine, NAC or whatever sulfur stuff.
HAppy man and Jdp has already talked about EDTA and Vit C i think no ? when chelating heavy metal, and LipoProtein(a) and calcium deposit were talked about...
I like that idea, because i see it like a detox period, limited in time. perhaps 2 to 3 times a year...
