Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
Since i was about 13 or 14 years old my anxiety levels have been through the roof. Im 19 now and still have crazy anxiety that i can't seem to control even if I'm fully aware of it and try to calm myself down.
I have been taking the entire immortal regimen plus a lot more for about 5 months now and while I'm actually noticing some great results hair wise, i still have bad anxiety. I was reading off the immortal hair page and it stated that "Recently, it?s been shown that chronic elevation of circulating levels of aldosterone leads to increased anxiety. This may explain why some who suffer from male pattern baldness can occasionally exhibit heightened anxiety levels. "
Maybe the reason why i receded so much at this age is because of the heightened anxiety and something being out of balance.
I can't go anywhere without feeling some anxiety, when i go get a hair cut, for example, I'm literally scared for no reason.
Now i was hoping that the regimen I'm on now will somehow take care of that through hormone balancing. But for now im getting some really nice results that i noticed just recently. Lets see what the next 5 months brings.

I'm with you, I have ridiculous anxiety, basically a totally screwed up response to stress, the smallest thing will ruin my day.

Re: Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
it seems anxiety is a common factor of the bald/thinning people ,i get red of it at least at the day by completely cutting coffee from my food . but at night it attack me again after 11 pm while am sleeping ...yes i know it happened because when i awake at the morning i feel pain in my jaw muscles it mean they stressed all night ..this is happen subconsciously , i can control my self only when am aware .
3 days a go a i back to my blood electrifier and pulser and i feel relaxed and harmonious again ..now i need to use em every day which am lazy to do.

Meditating 10-30 minutes a night seemed to help after a few months.

Re: Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions, however, i am not looking for a simple quick fix to resolve this issue that a lot of the hair loss sufferers seem to have. We have to find the reason why depression and anxiety is elevated in the balding community, maybe it is because we are balding or maybe it was present even before balding.
Something definitely has to be out of balance since stress and depression are controlled by hormones. If you ever look at a bald head, you can see where the pressure is protruding out of the skull on the forehead moving up, maybe anxiety, stress, and depression are somehow the cause of that. If only we could get a private lab and a team together with the most intelligent people in the hair loss community and take actions into our own hands and solve the mystery of MPB.

Re: Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
Hi Yaro - Often it can be a balance of copper and zinc.
For example: Copper is an estrogen activating receptor agonist (it increases action in estrogen), which can create anxiety. Conversely zinc can decrease it. Zinc increases progesterone receptors, hence attenuates anxiety levels.
Here's a study on zinc and copper balance.

Re: Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
Thank You CS for the info, i have been taking 30mg zinc with 2mg of copper 3-4 times a day which comes out to about 120mg/8mg zinc copper ratio and haven't seen a decrease in anxiety yet.
Maybe it is something else that is causing it but in your opinion do you think, with everything i am taking now, the anxiety will decrease after sometime? If not then i think there is something we are missing here and not addressing since most who lose their hair experience heightened anxiety levels.

Re: Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
That is an interesting study. Baldness and anxiety. I've had bad social anxiety since a kid and always hated giving speeches in class or being in the spotlight somehow. I'm not sure if vitamins can control something that may be inborn like that...or maybe it's aquired behaviour from our personal environment. It's funny that some muscians still get stage fright and take beta-blockers when they perform...even when they have played for YEARS to adoring crowds. If it is an inborn thing it may well have an effect on our hair. Maybe anxiety increases the intensity of dht reactions or sensitivity to it...or somehow weakens our hair follicles thru our immune system. Just guessing at a possible biological role.
Yaro...do you go to anxiety forums? If you do, you should ask how many of them are losing their hair or not. That would be an interesting correlation if the majority of anxiety sufferers are going bald.

Also chiming in to say I have anxiety problems, but honestly I'm not sure if the hair loss has caused this. I always worry about my hair and I suppose it is the chicken or the egg.

Depression linked to allergic reaction to inflammation.
What I find interesting is this:
(1) Hair-loss is linked to inflammation.
(2) People with hair-loss have depression.
(3) Depression is linked to an allergic reaction to inflammation.
For point three, please look at the article below:

Re: Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
actually both logic are right .. i have it even before i lost my hair ,so anxiety cause hair loss first and then hair loss continuously keep your anxiety going on ,when you look at the mirror you will know shit happened to you specially when you had a nice hair before you start losing it .and what makes depression even worst is people start to look at you differently and also gives you names according to your baldness which puts you in a negative emotion that even makes you lose more hair , i remember that woman come to visit my mother and when she saw me she gave me a name of a bald comic actor and laugh loudly without shame or respect . she is fat ugly woman ..i almost say you are a gorilla but i hold my self in a last second because i respect my mother .Growdamnit wrote:Also chiming in to say I have anxiety problems, but honestly I'm not sure if the hair loss has caused this. Re: Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
Thank you all for bringing attention to this because we might be on to something.
I have had insane anxiety since i was 13 or 14 years old, i am 19 now, and just like Shaftless said, i have always tried to avoid interactions with people and i would have this pain in my chest anytime i was put in the spotlight wether it be in school or outside. The weird thing is that whenever I do have to present myself, i know how to look cool about it, however, no matter how comfortable I get that anxiety feeling in my chest will always be there and in full force.
Now there definitely has to be a connection here with MPB, we can all agree to the fact that something is going on and we have to figure this out. I think we might be diving in too deep into hair loss research and missing what we already know that is right in front of us.
Since, in theory, we know that hair loss is caused by inflammation and other factors, where can that inflammation be coming from? Anytime i see a completely bald person, they usually have something protruding and pushing the skin out on their forehead going up as well as on the sides. Anytime you see a person with a full thick head of hair, their forehead is usually smooth looking without any indents or anything protruding out. Maybe whatever is protruding out is caused by stress, anxiety, and depression that the person thinks is normal and then leads to serious inflammation, or in other words, swelling.
Maybe CS can inform us on exactly what is causing all this anxiety that we have and then we can either try to lower with drugs or natural supps, but from the 30 things that i am taking now for hairloss i haven't seen a decrease in anxiety which leads me to think that there is something that we are missing. Dr. Cotsarelis found out that PGD2 is the killer of hair and there might be a connection with PGD2 and stress, anxiety and depression.

^ How about Rhodiola and/or Ashwaghanda? Those are adaptogens, good for stress. I'm going to bring that up with my doc in a few weeks.

Re: Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
I think they are too weak, i have been taking ashwagandha for over 5 months now at 900mg a day without any decrease in anxiety that i noticed. So i think we need something to directly inhibit whatever is causing the spike in anxiety with something that is much stronger. But first we have to find out what is causing the anxiety because that might be our answer to solving another piece to the puzzle.

Re: Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
Other than the zinc copper relationship, which is sometimes a common cause.
Another cause can be either overt or sub-clinical hyperthyroidism or hypo-thyroidism.
So for example, people who usually burn a lot of fat just naturally who tend to run on "high" will cause a constant level of anxiety. So, in a case of very high, copper can actually attenuate (or slow down) a hyper-thyroid condition.
To make matters a little more complex, hypothyroidism can also cause anxiety.
So, it may require some analysis before any determination can be made.

Re: Why Do I Have So Much Anxiety?
^ To add to the thyroid point, I have a ton of anxiety/stress, and it's very hard for me to gain weight. I eat like a mother and I'm almost 6 feet tall, 143 pounds.
I take 30 mg of zinc gluconate a day, I'm going to start supplementing with a bit of copper since I don't eat nuts, so I can't get it from sunflower seeds (or whichever one has copper).
