Kidney mass on ultrasound
Hi
Today I had an ultrasound to check for pcos and they checked my kidneys too.
My doc called me and told me that the u/s found a mass about 3cm and that I should have a CT scan.
I've been trying to stay calm and telling myself that it would be rare for a 28 year old female to have kidney cancer but I can't get it out of my mind, if it was a benign cyst wouldn't the u/s pick that up?
From what I understand the survival rate is about 70% but it involves having the kidney removed which scares the crap outta me. I have enough problems with two kidneys.
What are natural treatments for kidney tumours/cysts? Apart from cannabis oil (which I will be using if it is cancer). Is kidney removal absolutely necessary?

Re: Kidney mass on ultrasound
U/S is very blurry. hard to make out edges of small lesions. a CT may not even confirm it, and an Mri may not even confirm it. u might even need a biopsy to tell one way or the other. so dont panic, all they see is a lesion. it could be anything. unlikely to be cancer.
U/S can spot lumps etc, but its not much good to actually diagnose them.

Missy, just logging in to say I wish you all the best and try not to be too scared. rofl makes some very good points.
When do you go back for the CT?
Keep us posted. I wish I had some suggestions but kidney stuff is out of my sphere. I'm rooting for you.

Re: Kidney mass on ultrasound
missymoo - Some food for thought...
If it does turn out to be the worst case scenario, keep in mind that cutting out tumors is counterproductive, unless it is blocking blood flow. If malignancy exists, it exists everywhere....the solution is to take a variety of immune modulators.
For example, if it were me I'd be taking lots of this stuff:
Dionaea muscipula
It's very safe and only goes after unhealthy cells.

Re: Kidney mass on ultrasound
Thank you people
My doc is sending me a form to get the CT scan. Because I'm going on holiday with my boyfriend today (great timing) I won't be able to do it until next week at least.
It's so hard not to freak out because they say most solid tumors are cancer and most the time they don't seem to do a biopsy.

Re: Kidney mass on ultrasound
Hi All
I just got back from the doctor and the CT scan revealed it to be an angiomyolipoma, which is a benign fatty tumour (it was hyperechoic on ultrasound).

Re: Kidney mass on ultrasound
Thats great!.
I suspected as much, not because i pretend to know about your condition, but everytime someone i know (or someone i read about on the net) panics about the possibility of malignancy, it turns out to be benign. happened to me actually. i have 3 lesions on my liver, and as i stated at the start of the thread, Ultra sound only shows that something is there, it doesnt show much else. Like you, i freaked out too. but i have learned, in life you have to remain calm, until you have proof that theres something to worry about.
however a malignancy always is a possibility, just not a likelyhood, so you are well in your rights to freak out about it. just doesnt do much good.
alls well that ends well anyway. back to worrying about your hair i guess.

Re: Kidney mass on ultrasound
Thanks Guys
I have to admit I stopped freaking out when I peaked at the ultrasound and it looked like a typical angiomyolipoma. I wish the doctor told me in the first place that this is what they thought it was.
