Switching from hot (beware of the halogens evaporating) to cold water might even be better. I always stop with cold water, though. As Isis said, it's great to start your day with doing it. After experiencing horror while doing it for the few times at the begining, your body starts to crave it. At least my case is like this.

I feel like cold showers really help with scalp itch and inflammation in my case.

Have any of you ever found a way to actually get the courage to continue this practice as fall approaches and through the winter. It is like 2 degrees cooler in my house right now, but even with this minor change I'm completely incapable of forcing myself to step into that cold water. Psychology, physiology....I don't know. Just looking for some anecdotes or war stories.

I honestly just call myself degrading names until I just do it, hahaha.

I've been looking into cold showers lately. I had my first cold shower today. When the cold water hit my head I felt like my skull was in pain and inducing some type of headache. I think the shoulder and waist area is probably the most difficult part to do. I was breathing in rapidly in order to stand the cold water. I think the whole thing lasted 3-4 mins before I closed the water. I felt like my muscles had tensed up, and my heart was beating really really fast. My hands were numb. But I definitely felt invigorated.

Would be nice to hear from more people who have been doing this, if they have seen substantial thickening of their hair or regrowth? Otherwise I don't know how long I can keep up with this torture for.

Just had my second cold shower today. Felt good, and somehow felt easier than the one I had in the morning for the first time.

I think there is definitely a psychological element to how difficult we find this. Perhaps also a physiological one, where we get adapted to it? Hopefully it gets easier in time.

For me, I believe it is health related. Meaning, when feeling good with strong immune system and sleeping well I have zero problems in cold water, in fact I look forward to it. However, when feeling down with no sleep and maybe bad food etc. Cold showers are hell.

Exactly, the more you are able to do it, the more beneficial the habit becomes. Since chlorine/fluorine is essentially a poison, doing it with cold water is a way more beneficial than steaming in hot shower, due also chemical part of it.
