Shower filters

I might be moving to an area with well water, so i'm looking into decent shower filters. What do you guys recommend? Anyone deal with well water here? The only brand names that i know of are Aquasana, Sprite, and Culligan. I'd like the best filtration possible.

I had an Aquasana. I think it was pretty good.

Also look into Berkey.

I've always wanted the mercola filter but haven't jumped on it yet.

Do you guys think that much of the chlorine and fluoride is absorbed transdermally in the shower? I am hesitant to swim in chlorinated pools now, but I don't know how important it is to use a shower filter. Are there any studies showing how much of the halides get into your system? I figure that the iodine I take should be enough to battle the chlorine and fluoride.

i read that activated carbon filters release all of the contaminants they have accumulated when hot water goes through them. i actually found that some people like to "recycle" them and reset their life by boiling them up.

isn't this a problem when we get a steamy hot shower? it will basically pass-through the filter unfiltered without letting the filter retain any contaminants...

do you guys know of any showerhead filter that uses no activated carbon filter but just other technologies?
