Thyroxine with Iodine supplement

Hi guys
I know there have been many posts on here about thyroid issues, and I hope Im not asking a question that's been asked before but: my wife here in the UK is precribed with Thyroxine for her thyroid condition. Im not sure of its make up or what the American equivalent is, but can any of you advise if she can safely take Iodoral( or maybe Lugol's) as well as Thyroxine, or if she can drop Throxine altotether if she takes Iodoral/Lugol's? Her main symptoms before she took Thyroxine were tiredness and weight gain. She eats very well( fuit, veg, sald etc) so I dont think her problems are diet related. She is 50 yrs of age. Cheers

Fibonacci - Taking Thyroxine would increase her need for Lugol's significantly.

It's possible that over time she can completely eliminate her need for thyroid medication. About 90% do much better on Armour thyroid which is natural and contains both T4 & T3. But iodine in the form of Lugol's solution may eliminate the need for the natural Armour as well.

In many individuals, T4 levels is not the problem, yet T4 can only convert into T3 with the help of Iodine.

So yes, I would strongly encourage her to go on Iodoral (which is tablet form) or Lugol's solution which is liquid form at 12.5 milligrams per day or higher is she goes for an iodine loading test.
