Brushing too much? Empty Brushing too much?

Post  bh1546 Mon Aug 13, 2012 2:57 pm

I have a friend that brushes 5 times a day. I consider my teeth to be pretty clean but hers are even cleaner than mine. I only brush twice a day but was wondering if 5 times a day you are exposing yourself to too much flouride from toothpaste. Any thoughts appreciated.

That's probably too much, but...
1) it would depend on how much and the type of toothpaste she puts on the brush
2) and how much she absorbs or swallows afterward
3) the bigger concern is the damage all that brushing is doing to the enamel

I guess brushing teeth 5x a day is too much especially if you are not eating then you still brush your teeth. Dentists advised to brush our teeth every after meal, maybe your friend also brush his or her teeth after eating snacks(morning and afternoon snacks) + 3x meal every day.
