Omega 3 - expression of androgen receptor Empty Omega 3 - expression of androgen receptor

Post  moby Sun Aug 12, 2012 12:48 pm

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21667400

Omega-3 fatty acid inhibition of prostate cancer progression to hormone independence is associated with suppression of mTOR signaling and androgen receptor expression.

" The omega-3 fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) were able to prevent progression of LNCaP cells while the omega-6 fatty acid arachidonic acid (AA) actually promoted cell growth under conditions of hormone depletion. These results correlated with a decrease in the expression of the androgen receptor as well as suppression of the Akt/mTOR signaling pathway."

am I reading this right?

CausticSymmetry agrees:

The regimen posted on the main site is pretty outdated/useless since it doesn't match the findings on this forum. For example, what's the point of all those anti-oxidants? Why not just raise glutathione - your body's natural anti-oxidant?

"A diet with decreased fat and refined carbohydrates,an increased ratio of omega-3 to omega-6 plus saturated fatty acids, and an increase in foods richin “phytoestrogens” and fiber raised SHBG, lowered serum testosterone and insulin levels, and reduced waist circumference "
