Rosacea redux...
So I've been dealing with a terrible case of Rosacea. I've taken multiple courses of antibiotics (Doxycycline & Minocyline) which work temporarily. This class of anti-biotics also makes my hair thin and fall out (temporarily).
I've also used topical meds including Clindamycin, Dapsone and Metro Gel. Nothing seems to work.
On the natural front, I took sulforophane after it being recommended on this forum. Again I saw no results after two months.
I recently read that Permethrin Cream, which is a treatment for scabies, has been useful in the treatment of Rosacea. Could this be accurate? I've also read that oral ivermectin has been used to treat Rosacea due to it's affect on demodex mites.
I'm in a bind here as my dermatologist wants me to use a different antibiotic called Bactrim. I really don't want to take yet another course of antibiotics as I fear that it would cause me more harm. Any insight would be most appreciated.

I would see if you could get your doc to either do a test himself/herself or refer you to someone else with regard to your immune system. Rosacea can be the result of autoimmunity. I would see if you are TH1 or TH2 dominant. Depending on which, there are supplements you can take to balance things out. For example, inosine, factors in colostrum, and pine cone extract will shift you back toward T1, if you are T2 dominant. Things like green tea extract and pine bark extract will have the effect of bolstering T2 defenses. You need to know where you stand though as this will also help you decide which supplements you should be avoiding.
I would also look into the health of your gut. Hypochloridia can contribute to Rosacea. Start taking Betaine HCL right before meals. Improper biofilm colonization in the gut can cause all types of immune issues. Take a look at some of Rdkml's and Littlefighter's threads here with regard to how to deal with this issue. But its really a matter of using specific substances to try and "bust" these biofilms, clean out the toxins with things like activated charcoal, then heal the gut lining and resestablish proper flora.
It takes a tailored diet, I would avoid starch during this phase. Use lots of bone broth. And get yourself a really good probiotic, perhaps a few and rotate them. Glutamine is great for healing the gut. You really need to be taking probiotics though, especially the super strains like S Boulardi and Lactobacillus GG.
Again, get your immune system looked at. And start thinking about your gut, the problem probably begins there, and without handling it properly, just throwing a bunch of antibiotics at yourself without fixing the whole internal environment could be making your problem worse.
As a side note, its also probably worth your time to address heavy metals and your thyroid. Heavy metals can provide the envrionment for pathogens to flourish and low oxygen environemnt due to low thyroid can contribute to further infection.
