Brain Health supplements(CS please write an article about this on healthyfixx)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WjJy0yvMiM I saw this video and this is a more ample discussion http://www.superhumanradio.com/shr-875-life-extension-latest-for-2012-plus-paleo-nutrition-primer-101-for-beginners.html where they talk about magnesium l threonate and how important it is; please if you have any opinions on this form of magnesium and other recommendations for brain health post them in this thread.

tudor - There's been some discussion of Magnesium Threonate a while ago, but then again, mostly through private messages. Will definitely have an article that mentions this because it is a powerful way to activate the factors make memory happen. What make this supplement especially interesting is something placed in bold, which suggest that it can help overcome anxiety due to severe issues of the past--something that could be useful for stressed induced hair loss.
Here are some pre-HealthyFixx articles on a similar subject:

Removing heavy metal (Mercury Amalgams) can alleviate some with problems. Others can be related to the gut, if there is insufficient absorption of amino acids to produce necessary neurotransmitters.
The two most interesting studies on Magnesium Threonate so far are the following:
J Neurosci. 2011 Oct 19;31(42):14871-81.
Effects of elevation of brain magnesium on fear conditioning, fear extinction, and synaptic plasticity in the infralimbic prefrontal cortex and lateral amygdala.

Anxiety disorders, such as phobias and posttraumatic stress disorder, are among the most common mental disorders. Cognitive therapy helps in treating these disorders; however, many cases relapse or resist the therapy, which justifies the search for cognitive enhancers that might augment the efficacy of cognitive therapy. Studies suggest that enhancement of plasticity in certain brain regions such as the prefrontal cortex (PFC) and/or hippocampus might enhance the efficacy of cognitive therapy. We found that elevation of brain magnesium, by a novel magnesium compound [magnesium-l-threonate (MgT)], enhances synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus and learning and memory in rats. Here, we show that MgT treatment enhances retention of the extinction of fear memory, without enhancing, impairing, or erasing the original fear memory. We then explored the molecular basis of the effects of MgT treatment on fear memory and extinction. In intact animals, elevation of brain magnesium increased NMDA receptors (NMDARs) signaling, BDNF expression, density of presynaptic puncta, and synaptic plasticity in the PFC but, interestingly, not in the basolateral amygdala. In vitro, elevation of extracellular magnesium concentration increased synaptic NMDAR current and plasticity in the infralimbic PFC, but not in the lateral amygdala, suggesting a difference in their sensitivity to elevation of brain magnesium. The current study suggests that elevation of brain magnesium might be a novel approach for enhancing synaptic plasticity in a regional-specific manner leading to enhancing the efficacy of extinction without enhancing or impairing fear memory formation.
Neuron. 2010 Jan 28;65(2):165-77.
Enhancement of learning and memory by elevating brain magnesium.

Learning and memory are fundamental brain functions affected by dietary and environmental factors. Here, we show that increasing brain magnesium using a newly developed magnesium compound (magnesium-L-threonate, MgT) leads to the enhancement of learning abilities, working memory, and short- and long-term memory in rats. The pattern completion ability was also improved in aged rats. MgT-treated rats had higher density of synaptophysin-/synaptobrevin-positive puncta in DG and CA1 subregions of hippocampus that were correlated with memory improvement. Functionally, magnesium increased the number of functional presynaptic release sites, while it reduced their release probability. The resultant synaptic reconfiguration enabled selective enhancement of synaptic transmission for burst inputs. Coupled with concurrent upregulation of NR2B-containing NMDA receptors and its downstream signaling, synaptic plasticity induced by correlated inputs was enhanced. Our findings suggest that an increase in brain magnesium enhances both short-term synaptic facilitation and long-term potentiation and improves learning and memory functions.

CS you need to remove the pictures of women from your blog. I don't think I've ever made it to the bottom of one of your posts.

Haha i was showing my mother some of your articles on thyroid a year ago and she also said that she thought the pictures reduced your credibility. But hey its the content that matters right? I tried to explain to her that it should make no difference if you have pics of women on your blog, or pics of hitler. Content is content.

haha, the funny thing is i think many of these women come from my native country. If somebody invents a miracle grow then i can lead an "immortal hair" trip to meet some of the actual girls from the pictures. "Hello anna i remember you from the kidney stones article"

I think CS should take a side, either completely nude women or completely clothed. Right now it's neither here nor there - it's just a tease.

HealthyFixx.com is the "censored" version of Daily Topic. Not just in the photos, but also with the content.
I have to use a lot of restraint in HealthyFixx because if I don't water down the content, it will appear too radical
for most readers.
So when I wrote Daily Topic, it was to blow off some steam about medical orthodoxy. Also, the very first topic on
there looked pretty boring with a photo of an aromatase molecule. I thought, how can I spice this up a little, or at least make it more interesting?
Anyway, I miss writing these more controversial articles, but HealthyFixx still has its share. And if it were entirely up to me, I would replace a lot of the photos with hot chicks, but--yeah it doesn't do much for some people, and it upsets a lot of wives, girlfriends, etc.

The 2009 Daily Topics were definitely worth watching! Certainly easier on the eyes than benzene rings.
On a more serious note, I personally find the Healthy Fixx site presentation format very good. I wouldn't change a thing about it.
best,

Lecithin has benefits both for the brain and body, including skin and hair. I was thinking of starting a new thread about lecithin, but guess it fits here.
I use NOW brand sunflower lecithin caps, myself.

Re: Brain Health supplements(CS please write an article about this on healthyfixx)
my grandma had a serious stroke few years ago and her right side became partly paralized. after a while she startred to show sings of senile dimenzia, which got worse over the years.
now she barely remembers anything shorterm, and pretty confused most of the time.
few days ago i came across 'Hydregine' - a drug made from ergot mushroom just like LSD - when i was reading about drugs for circualtion.
than i read some users experiences in erowid.org and find it pretty interesting and maybe useful for treating my gradma situation.
