Niacinamide & Insulin
Hey IH,
At what dose of Niacinamide does the body start to secrete more insulin? I notice this is a treatment for Type 1 diabetics who don't want to use insulin, but they never list a dosage. I'm using Niacinamide right now to help clear Acetaldhyde, with very good effect! Why is so much needed for clearing acetaldhyde?

Re: Niacinamide & Insulin
Joejoebaggins - The dose for Niacinamide is 25 mg/kg of body weight (2.5 to 3.3 g) for early-onset type 1 diabetes.
It is vital to take other B-complex along with it, especially at high doses, so that the Niacinamide will not deplete the other B-vitamins.

Re: Niacinamide & Insulin
Thanks IH, on a completely unrelated note
Besides:
Krill Oil (500mg TID)
Black Currant Oil (300mg GLA TID)
Mag Orotate, P5P, & Zinc Picolinate
is there anything else I can do to increase PGE1? I have water retention like you wouldn't believe.

Re: Niacinamide & Insulin
Joejoebaggins - On water retention. Here's a couple ways and hopefully one of them will work.
Drink more water (more frequently). Sometimes dehydration causes water retention.
Vitamin C, if not already will help.
Dandelion extract.
Himalayan salt (actually relieves water retention), does the opposite of sodium-chloride.

Re: Niacinamide & Insulin
So once we can pass the spit test for candida, we need to stop using niacinimide or lower the dosage because high dose can cause insulin resistance? I've been taking 4-6 capsuls of 500 mg each a day.

Re: Niacinamide & Insulin
Espio - No, not at all. Niacinamide is safe to use and will not cause excess insulin. However in the context of type I diabetes (insulin dependent) where none to very little insulin is produced at all, high dose Niacinamide can stimulate the production of insulin from beta cells in the pancreas effectively reversing juvenile onset diabetes. Essentially Niacinamide reverses the destruction of beta cells. This has no relation to insulin resistance.

I really appreciate your help IH,
The only thing I haven't tried is celtic sea salt loading, so Ill give that a go. Taking 500mg TID of the pureway C, is that enough? Apparently Mercury and Lead (which I'm chelating now) destroy PGE1 and make the kidneys retain more water.

Re: Niacinamide & Insulin
Joejoebaggins - Since Pure Way C is a fat soluble form of C, I am not sure if that will change the outcome or the amount. What method of chelation are you using?

I'm using the Andy Cutler protocol which is 50mg DMSA/50mg ALA every 3 hours 3 days out of the week (4 days rest). I tried humifulvate for a while, but dropped it after I couldn't find others who've had success. It's a new supp so I'll give it more time.
Good info about pureway. I always forget that its fat soluble. Ill try 500mg TID with normal ascorbic acid.

Re: Niacinamide & Insulin
Joejoebaggins - From what I have seen, humifulvate is the most effective for lead and mercury. Being on DMSA is no fun, so if want to try something else, I ran into this product here.

It is definitely no fun, but I feel like I can't gamble on this one. DMSA is effective at getting lead out (which I'm higher in). Are you familiar with the product you linked? Unfortunately no user reviews list before and afters of metals that were chelated.
I appreciate your help IH.

Re: Niacinamide & Insulin
Joejoebaggins - There is a lot of research concerning Prostate cancer with modified citrus pectin, and this is thought be because of its chelating effects with metals, such as lead.
Here's some references:
