New regimen (Please comment) Empty New regimen (Please comment)

Post  Petch Thu Dec 04, 2008 9:59 am

Hi All,

I've read this site and many more. My reasoning is that i need a new regimen. I currently take propecia, minoxidil and nizoral for coming up to 7 years, i've maintained well but have started to get sexual side effects from the fin and wish to drop it but i'm scared to lose hair, i'm currently a NW3 and 28 years old...

Anyway, a new regimen i've come up with, let me know what you think...

ultra natural prostate capsules contains,
Amount Per Serving
Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens) (berries) CO2 extract320 mg
[std to 85%-95% free fatty acids and sterols (272 mg)]

Cernitin® Flower Pollen extract (Secale cereale L.)252 mg

5-LOXIN® (Boswellia serrata) extract (gum resin) [std. to70 mg

acetyl-11-keto-ß-boswellic acid (AKBA) minimum 30%
(21 mg)]
Stinging nettle extract (Urtica dioica) (root)
240 mg
Pygeum (Pygeum africanum) extract (bark)
100 mg
[std. to 11.7% sterols as beta-sitosterol (11.7 mg)]
Lycopene (from tomato extract)
10 mg
Phytosterol Complex [std. to 59% free total sterols
678 mg
(400 mg) and 26.6% free beta-sitosterol (180 mg)]
Proprietary Enterolactone Precursors Blend
20.15 mg
HMRlignan™ Norway spruce (Picea abies) lignan extract (knot wood) [std. to 90% Hydroxymatairesinol potassium acetate complex]; ActiFlax™ Flax Lignan (Linum Usitatissimum L.) extract (seed) [std. to 40% Secoisolariciresinol diglucoside]
Boron (from boron citrate, glycinate, and aspartate)
3 mg
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) extract
800 mcg

Other ingredients: gelatin, glycerine, pumpkin seed oil, water, lecithin, beeswax.

Cod liver oil/coconut oil topically/maybe alpha licoic acid - Revita shampoo (contains sod nano, emu oil, 1% ketkolane, copper peptides, apple polyphonals, msm, caffiene)
Proxiphen once a day (spiro, minox sod)

What do you think???????

Petch - Your regimen is mostly combating DHT, and to this great extent could exacerbate sexual sides.

If you withdrawal from Propecia, do so very gradually.

Here is my regimen page which lists, one of the ingredients on your list 7-HMR.

http://www.freewebs.com/immortalhair/mycurrentregimen.htm

Besides incorporting the other elements from this regimen, I would suggest using propecia TOPICALLY only after gradually withdrawal from Propecia.

Additionally, if you read through the various sections of the site, you may find other areas that may apply to you.

Petch - Finally, I should comment on the topicals you listed at the bottom, while they will not hurt, their effectiveness is not that strong.

Post  Petch Thu Dec 04, 2008 12:01 pm

For now i've reduced my dosage of fin from 1.25mg to .625

I'll look at the site again in more detail tomorrow.

I've thought about fin topically, but not found whether it works or not, and if it does, will it give me sides?

I've also purchased l'argine to help increase my libido, nothing worse than meeting a new woman and not being 100% functional. I'm not going to quit fin right away, but work on a new regimen and educate myself better.

The topicals are essentially proxiphen and revita shampoo, you think these are not so good?

I've looked at the top six products in your regimen, i'm also taking cod liver oil with EPA/DHA, 7HMR and APA that's three right there. Do you think the ultra natural prostate capsules are overkill? even if i drop proscar?

How about adding Natural (Phyto)Estrogen w/Pomegrante Extract?

I think my hairloss is mainly from androgens and inflammation...

Petch - The ultra prostate formula would be overkill with extra phytosterols.

Oxidative stress is a huge factor in DHT sensitivity. This is where Ecklonia Cava and Lipoic acid/Acetyl L-Carnitine help.

What about Phytoestrogen w/Pomegrante Extract? That is okay, any additional potent antioxidant is good.

Looked in to Lipoic acid/Acetyl L-Carnitine, looks good as an anti oxidant and for oxidising blood.

Here's the top six of your regimen,

[i]7 HMR Lignans (7 hydroxymatairesinol) from the Norwegian Spruce Tree as source
of Enterolactone. One 40 milligram capsule per day Source

Ecklonia cava extract, one 400 milligram capsule morning and evening Source

8 Cod Liver Oil Capsules per day (Source of Essential fatty acids & Vitamin D) Source
An alternative to Cod Liver Oil is Krill Oil, take a 1,000 milligrams Source

1000 milligrams per meal; target three times daily Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALC)*
see notes below. Source

100 milligrams per meal Bio-Enhanced Na-RALA*
see notes below. Source

5,000 (5 milligrams) of Biotin (essential if Lipoic Acid is used)[i]

What in there reduces DHT, and what blocks estrogen? estordial...

Petch - 7-HMR (Spruce lignans) supplies weak estrogen that blocks stronger estrogens, it also reduces DHT.

Ecklonia Cava inhibits the actions of the proteins that are signaled by DHT. Technically DHT is a messager of the inflammation, not the final blow to hair.

The other antioxidants improve glucose metabolism (less DHT), and increases body produced antioxidants (which are low in balding), and desensitize the negative effects of DHT by neutralizing reactive oxygen species.

Cod Liver Oil and/or Krill oil (with Vitamin D) reduce inflammation and DHT.

Cool. Is it okay to take a small dose of proscar while taking the top six of your regimen? And have you ever taken proscar yourself? if you have already mentioned this before on your site feel free to link me to it. Tar

Petch - I have never Proscar (Finasteride), but many have used it with the regimen, so it should be okay.

tommmash - That regimen looks pretty good. ALC & Lipoic acid is more critical if you have any of the following: Any fatigue/low energy, feeling tired after a meal, toxic liver, eat a lot of sweets past or present or eat a lot of refined carbohydrates.

Misirlou - There are three things in the prostate formula that are good, such as 5-LOXIN (Boswellia serrata) extract
Stinging nettle extract (Urtica dioica) and the Enterolactone Precursors Blend. Nothing wrong those, just worried about some of the anti-DHT ingredients and hope it is priced to fair value since there is a lot in there.

Regarding Libido and Arginine - I thought an arginine-lysine combo taken before bed was best for this?

Petch,
I would guess you're overdoing a little bit when you
add the prostate capsules to your present regimem.
As CS said it before, in sum you're on four DHT-Inhibitors:
Fin (that only works - if it works for you - in the vertex area),
SP, beta-sitosterol and Pygeum.

Saw Palmetto - 2 x 320 mg a day or more - could paralyse your best friend (like SP did it with my best friend).
And - as far as I know - the benefit of Pygeum fighting hair loss is not clear(ed) enough.

Crusher - I must disagree on the comment that fin only works on the vertex. Not to encourage the use of it or anything, but I had amazing regrowth in front after a mere three months on propecia. Too bad it crushed my sex drive.

Petch - You're definitely overdoing it by using four different DHT blockers. You should decide if you want to go which of the following three routes to combat hairloss:

1) Go the drug route and use propecia and no need for the additional DHT blockers such as SP and Beta sit.
2) Go the natural route and therfore avoid propecia (fin) and use either saw palmetto OR beta sit ... Pygeum could complement one of these I suppose.
3) Go the Immortalhair route and do not make the core of your hairloss combat to be based on blocking DHT, instead allow your body to experience NORMAL levels of DHT, but mitigate the damage that DHT could have on your hair by addressing the negative consequences of it such as inflammation through use of things such as curcumin, ecklonia cava, ALA/ALC, Omega 3s, etc.

If you want to be healthy, feel great, have a strong libido, and remain illness free, and maintain healthy hair then go with strategy 3 and add a healthy diet which mainly includes low sugar, low starch, low refined grains; plenty of EFFECTIVE exercise, positive thinking, and adequate sunshine.

Hi All,

Natural prostate pills were overkill, you're all very correct on that, I stopped taking them.

I'm still on propecia but plan to stop taking it. My regimen at the moment is,
0.6mg propecia
minoxidil
hair signals - beta sisterol, tea extracts, lavender, pygeum
maca
krill oil

I want to add,
bcm curcumin
ecklonia cava
and a good muti vit if there is one
pro biotic yoghurt once a day

When I quit propecia, very scared too, I think i'll use a topical in it's place and withdraw from it very slowly like ataman is on Dut.

Thanks for the replies
