organic goat milk vs organic cow milk what is the difference?
I know there is a lot of chatter about staying from from cow milk even organic cow milk but what about goats milk? Does it not carry the same allergens?

Goat's milk doesn't contain lactose, it's easier to digest and probably significantly healthier. It's supposed to be more similar to human milk and of course does still contain casein and stuff. I'm not sure about it's estrogen content or anything like that though. I just drink rice, oat or almond milk these days (all taste delicious!), although I still have dairy in small quantities if it's in other things

Of course goat's milk does contain lactose - all milk contain lactose, the unique sugar in milk. Some milk contain more and others less; among highest is human milk (~7%).
If you feed google with "goat's milk" you will get enough information, for example: http://askdrsears.com/html/3/t032400.asp

The mere fact that so many people are lactose intolerant, just goes to show that we're not meant to drink another species secretion. It's sick.
However,i'm addicted to cheese.

zender - It is possible that a few of these cases of intolerance and sensitivity can be explained by the consumption of the A1 milk.zender on Sat Jan 15, 2011 11:29 pm

Oh yeah! You're right I do apologize! I found this:
" Although goat milk, like cow ' s milk and human milk, contains lactose , many people with lactose intolerance can drink goat milk.
Why? It has been hypothesized that the
reason lies in goat milk' s superior digestibility. Goat milk is more completely and easily absorbed than cow ' s milk, leaving less undigested residue behind in the colon to quite literally ferment and cause the uncomfortable symptoms of lactose intolerance. It may also be that the patient is not lactose intolerant at all, but instead is one of the 1- in -10 people who are allergic to the major protein of cow's milk ... alpha S1 casein protein . The symptoms are almost identical to those of lactose intolerance. Both goat milk and human milk lack this offending protein."

I stand corrected! I think it's still a healthier and easier to digest alternative though

According to about.com, pasteurized milk is not that bad:
http://infectiousdiseases.about.com/od/prevention/a/pasteurization.htm
Apparently the nutritional value stays high despite pasteurization + all the talk about enzymes dying when pasteurized is said to be a myth.
Any thoughts?

About.com usually contains very suspicious information.
There has been an on-going and silent war between producers of destroyed milk and pasteurized milk.

Re: organic goat milk vs organic cow milk what is the difference?
I might disagree with part on shelf life of raw milk Ive had raw milk sit in my fridge for a long time and still taste fine where the normal pasteurized variety would be so disgusting it would be undrinkable. It might have took a long time for the milk to get shipped to the store and I got the raw stuff very fresh plus it was grass fed if that has anything to do with it.
Most organic store bought milk is grain fed although I have seen some exceptions lately with grass fed milk and butter might depend where you live. Both I assume are pasteurized although the butter doesn't say it.
