Turmeric (question for IH)
IH--
I just picked up a bottle of the New Chapter turmeric supplement. Going in, I have more faith than usual, but who knows. I guess this is pretty vague. I'm just wondering what your thoughts are on it.

Re: Turmeric (question for IH)
Gibson - New Chapter is probably the best in the business when it comes to Curcumin.
I don't know if you'll get an effect that you will notice above and beyond what you're already doing.
I'd take the stuff myself if it didn't potentially interfere with EGCG from green tea. Apparently, its effect on Keratinocytes are opposing, but that may not matter too much.
Let us know if you notice anything with it. I've actually got some New Chapter Zyflamend that I never use. In the past I would get an occasional headache and it would help. Haven't any a single one since gobbling down ACV capsules.

Re: Turmeric (question for IH)
Thanks IH.
In addition to using it internally, I plan to use it topically: I punctured a capsule and added the turmeric extract to my shampoo and, once mixed, it didn't stain, although one finger tip is yellow from coming in direct contact with it.
I'll post if I notice anything noteworthy on both fronts.

Re: Turmeric (question for IH)
nidhogge - Cool deal! I've been using it for a few reasons, a great source of Potassium, a good blood pressure regulator, it slows carbohydrate conversion into glucose and it may act as a natural minoxidil.
Re: Turmeric (question for IH)
Are those curcumin molecules (from a punctured pill) really small enough to penetrate the skin?

In the case of the new chapter product, I'm not sure. A small fraction of the product, I believe is an ethanol extract; that should work. The last time I tried turmeric topically, I used an herb pharm, alcohol based extract, a tincture. I dropped it because of the alcohol. (but that would work) Regarding the new chapter experiment, I'm not recommending anyone else try it; I'm just messsing around with this product that is new to me.

Ya, ACV seems like some seriously awesome stuff. I love that it's high in potassium, and the price is right.

MORE ON TUMERIC (QUESTION FOR IH)
Hi IH,
As you said in this thread there appears to be a conflict between ECCG and Tumeric, ie they appear to oppose
one another. Can we work around this by taking ECCG and Turmeric spaced apart at different times ? IF so,
what's you thought on time spacing that is effective ? thanks as usual for your comment and oversight and for this site !
I want to say also I have been a member at regrowth, as well as your 2 forums, and your comments and insights have not only helped me but another 12 or so friends of mine that I pass on your info too. Its helped them to feel better overall as well as defend their follicles. thanks again for your efforts and of course the efforts of others in this forum.

2560 - Thanks, no problem.
A recent study finally explained the opposing mechanisms of EGCG and Curcumin on keratinoctyes. Unless they are both used topically, it would appear totally safe to use them orally in combination. Topically would be a different story.
So in light of new findings, it shouldn't matter if they are used together or not. I can finally take these two herbs without worry.

Curcumin and EGCG
IH, nice to hear. I have used the two during this year seemingly without negative effects, but I have worried one was canceling out the others effectiveness or at the very least a reduction in their efficacies. Thank you.

The newchapter is cheaper than the bio-curcumin, does it absorb as well?

Re: Turmeric (question for IH)
I heard that curcumin is partly fat soluble and just need to be taken with fat
to absorb, and in fact the newchapter capsules has olive oil in them. Maybe it
works well that way?

I'm, not sure how it BCM95 compares with New Chapter, but there extraction process and efficacy is great.
They used their flagship product a few years ago in a clinical study.

IH,
I just wanted to point out that you were spot on when you said i probably wouldn't notice an effect beyond what i was doing. This has been my experience. There is convincing enough research and testimonials on it , and it's profound scent and yellow nature are overwhelming, plus that new chapter proclamation; I just can't gage much else.

Has any new info come of this? I was planning to order an elsom topical containing both egcg and curcumin.
