Conflicting studies with regards to soy isoflavones and DHT Empty Conflicting studies with regards to soy isoflavones and DHT

I recently came across two studies that claimed that the isoflavones in soy actually increased 5ar and DHT which I find shocking because everything has pointed to the contrary.

http://www.labnet.health.nz/resources/file/biochemistry-steroid/isoflavones.pdf

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11728518

Anyone have any ideas as to why these studies came to these conclusions?

Soy has a history of contradicting studies .. a possible explanation is how soy isoflavones are mtabolised in different individuals. For instance, some produce equol from daidzein others do not.
