CS,

I remember that at one time you used to recommend soy isoflavones.

Could you please refresh why you've stopped recommending them?

gonzalito - Actually, I've never recommended them, except in cases where one wants to attempt to increase their levels of equol in the body.

Except in cases where the soy is fermented, it is risky to consume non-fermented soy, because animals will refuse to eat it.

Research for non-fermented soy is very mixed.

If I'm not mistaken, most soy is now genetically modified.

Here's an interesting quote though

"In tests of 45 healthy men, those who regularly consumed one glass of soy milk with a small portion of beef, pork, or chicken produced nearly 4.7 times more equol than men who drank the soy milk but skipped the meat. What's more, their equol levels were nearly the same as those found in men who followed a high-soy diet."
