Dht Blocker
Hello Immortal
I have been using your regime for few weeks. I was wondering if I need to use
dht blocker with it. I use Maca and Dim in order to regulate my hormones. I dont use PM.
From what I know Maca and dim raise Test levels and regulate estrogens but not fight dht. Am I right ?
I need Your help and please tell me if I should add any dht blocker such saw palmetto or Pumpkin seed oil maybe ?
Thanks a lot.

Re: Dht Blocker
Shane4 - It's not known exactly how Maca works, but it has a nice effect. DIM inhibits DHT and downregulates MMP-9, so there's no need for saw palmetto, etc.

Re: Dht Blocker
scottyc33 - You can, and while I do, I am not sure how much of a difference it makes.
Re: Dht Blocker
IH - This may be a ignorant question but I have not been able to find an answer to this anywhere. On the topic of DIM - is it possible to get a similar effect to the supplement by eating lots of brocolli? Say a half serving with every meal (so like 3 or 4 times a day).

Astaxanthin
Was not there data to support that both forms of Astaxanthin (natural & synthetic) supports inhibiting DHT? This ontop of being a super Antioxidant as well...

I've read studies that said that Maca had no significant impact on hormone levels.

http://altmedicine.about.com/od/herbsupplementguide/a/maca.htm
According to folklore, ancient Incan warriors took maca before going off to battle to make them physically strong. However, they were later prohibited from taking it, in order to protect conquered women from their heightened libidos.
One study looked at the effect of 4 months treatment with maca tablets on semen quality in nine adult men. Treatment with maca resulted in increased seminal volume, sperm count, and sperm motility.
A 12-week randomized controlled trial looked at 1,500 mg maca, 3,000 mg maca, or placebo. After 8 weeks, there was an improvement in sexual desire in the men taking maca.
Maca does not appear to affect hormone levels. Serum testosterone and estradiol levels were not different in men treated with maca compared to those who took the placebo. Other studies have found no effect on luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, prolactin, and 17-alpha

Re: Dht Blocker
Project: JS - DIM is equivalent to about two pounds of broccoli if I got my facts correct. Broccoli sprouts would be the best way to achieve this--they are much easier to eat and have anywhere from 30 to 50 times the nutritive content of regular broccoli. That's not to say it has that much more DIM, but I'm pretty sure it would have more.
Re: Dht Blocker
scottyc33 - Maca has been shown to decrease prostate weights which were treated with testosterone and it shrank it as effectively as finasteride.
It's interesting that it doesn't budge the hormones, but however it works, seems to get the job done.

Re: Dht Blocker
Thats excellent information IH! Wow, I have been looking for that exact information for a while now. Broccoli sprouts look very healthy. Im gonna have to start shopping at better grocery stores.

Wouldn't worry much about it so long as you have a healthy Iodine intake.
