What's causing my hairloss?
I'm 19, and have had thin hair since I was about 16 or 17. It seems to have been the same, but I don't know what's going on.
I went to a dermatologist, they did a scalp biopsy and said that there's nothing wrong with my hair and that it'll grow back.
My dermatologist wanted me to start with rogaine, but I waited.
I visited the hairclub a while ago and the consultant told me that I'd be completely bald by the age of 20. That's in 5 months.
Anyway, he wanted to get me on their Extreme Hair Therapy procedure. It's Shampoo, conditioner, scalp cleanser, minoxidil, and a supplement. He wanted me to do that for a year (costing $3,000) and then he'd want to put me on finasteride to prevent from going back to this.
Bosley has the same procedure for about $1,000
So what the hell is going on with my hair, and what do I need to do?
As you can see, my hair is thin all over. My hairline and crown are just fine...it's weird. I need help figuring out what's happening.
I've attached images at the hairloss forum so here's the link to my pictures.

There's a few more on the third page as well.

Just for the record. Don't take the above posters advice. He's got nothing else to do but post crap on a hair loss website.

So then what should I do, and what's wrong with my hair?

The "gay" person is telling you the chemical way to save your hair, which can have many negative side effects which sometimes stay even after you stop taking them.
The one intelligent thing he said was to go get your blood tested. Get a print out or something of your test results and post them here. I'm sure somebody will be able to take a look at them and tell you what supps to take.
Also gay person "Because their idiots." I think it should probably be "they're" lol unlucky

Re: What's causing my hairloss?
weezy - a problem with your thyroid is one possibility. you can get an indication of your thyroid function by doing a basal temperature test a.k.a a barnes test. your loss appears to be quite similar to mine and i tested as low temperature (=hypothyroid/underactive thyroid). if you have any symptoms other than hair loss they might help confirm it, also if you have any amalgam fillings they can be a causal factor. good luck.

Well last time I got a blood test done, nothing came out wrong. So what else should I be doing?

Re: What's causing my hairloss?
Weezy - 90% of all medical doctors are not familiar with proper thyroid testing.
TSH (Thyroid stimulating hormone) and respective levels of T4 and T3 are mostly meaningless.
Thyroid hormone resistance is the reason. Much like insulin resistance, thyroid hormone resistance occurs when tests suggest normal thyroid function, yet the hormone is relatively inactive—it’s resistant.
Checking your basal temperature (auxiliary) before rising out of bed, as shown here: http://drbate.com/Ref/thyroid.html
96 to 97% of the globe is iodine deficient, so this is just a formality.
To get a better understanding of why iodine is so important here—which most doctors will be of little help—perhaps the opposite, I would suggest reviewing the following links:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/1959949/IODINE-Solution-to-Healthproblems
This one below is of a more technical nature:

Read all of those links.
So do you think the cause of my hairloss is because of my thyroid?
Well what should I do? I want my hair back.

My first bit of advice would be to put on a pot of tea, get comfy, and go into the profiles of JDP, Prague, CausticSymmery, and read all of their posts and get a feel for what causes hairloss. Mainstream hairloss measures counter the symptom of a symptom of an underlying cause.
Also, CS -
Have you considered making a sticky thread that contains all of your quotes along with all of the stuff from JDP, Prague, and the small army of other geniuses on this site? It would reeaaally be helpful for us new guys.

Did he not do any blood tests? Do the basal temperature as mentioned above and come back and let us know what readings you got.

Re: What's causing my hairloss?
So should I start taking propecia, rogaine, and nizoral shampoo? There seems to be no hope at all and I want to stop it before it gets worse. Unless there's another option, let me know guys please.

Here are some links. The more you understand the mechanisms and the more you experiment = better results.

Re: What's causing my hairloss?
If you wanna fight hairloss and win, you have to read, learn and understand this problem. Man, I'm just 17. When my hairloss started, I didn't know antything about my body and even I could not speak english. One year later I think I am on the right way and my hair has improved a lot. Good luck to you!

Changed diet (gluten, vegetable oils, dairy, processed food etc.), normalized thyroid function (iodine x fluoride, bromide, chlorine), also did a heavy metal detox. Now I take care of my intestinal flora (probiotics, action<reaction's topic is great).

Re: What's causing my hairloss?
Take a Broda barnes basal test to determine if your thyroid is underactive or overactive.
http://drbate.com/Ref/thyroid.html
If underactive start experimenting with Iodine and Selenium.
That would be the first thing I would do if I could go back 3 years where I had a decent amount of hair.
