Replacing the Pharmaceuticals in my Regimen Empty Replacing the Pharmaceuticals in my Regimen

Post  albe Tue May 25, 2010 5:07 pm

It's been about 2 years on the forum for me, and I've learned an unbelievable amount through the period. One thing that I've slowly come around to after reading thousands of studies, is that the symptoms I have such as hair loss and gray hairs really are symptomatic of some deep underlying issues. I've also come around to the idea that in order to fix these underlying issues I really can't cut corners in regards to diet/lifestyle. Even the small problems like bromide/fluoride in pharmaceuticals are worrying to me.

One of my goals is to get rid of pharmaceuticals completely. Here's what I'm taking and what I'm considering as an alternate course of action.

1-Dutasteride for DHT. The other things I'm doing to control DHT are maca, using coconut oil and avoiding vegetable oils for cooking, curcumin (for androgen receptors), and nizoral with added spiro and Pueraria Mirifica (I also plan to replace the nizoral with a natural shampoo+crushed ketoconozoale). I need a little more internal DHT control, so I'm considering Saw palmetto 2x320mg, and GLA. Would 240mg GLA from http://www.iherb.com/Jarrow-Formulas-Borage-GLA-240-240-mg-120-Softgels/149?at=0 be a good starting point? I haven't seen any doses when I've done forum searches. I'm also considering equol, but I don't know of anybody on here who has actually tried it (and whether it would actually help me.

2- Arimidex for Estrogen. I need some help here. I have DIM in my morning smoothie, but it's not nearly as strong. I also take 20mg iodine, and drink less alcohol than I used to. I really feel much better on arimidex, so I want to find a suitable natural replacement if possible.

3- Topical roxythromycin. I began this after reading a study that went around hair loss sites and on here. I haven't felt a huge difference from its use. I suspect that once I begin taking a probiotic and kefir and achieve a better bacterial balance that it will become redundant.
