Rhodiola and Hair Empty Rhodiola and Hair

Post  Paradox Sun Feb 28, 2010 4:28 am

I was just reading the reviews on iherb for the New Chapter Rhodiola and came across this:

"My boyfriend suffers from stress and anxiety and has found that this significantly improves his mood and calms his nerves. Strangely, it also seems to have made his thinning hair start growing thicker and healthier. We have both been taking it and have found that we have been needing less sleep but remain alert and focused throughout the day. After taking it for about 2 weeks my PMS symptoms (bloating, weight gain, depression) were gone-something which I thought would never happen!."

Interesting, I wonder if the hair thickening is due to the adrenal/stress adaptogen effect it has or possibly to estrogen balancing? It has been reported to estrogenic, but from what I've read it seems to be more adaptogenic (balancing) than it is estrogenic. It may support a healthy hormone balance in women by increasing estrogen, but not necessarily increase estrogen in men?

I have some being delivered today so I'll give it go and see. This herb is really intriguing to me for all it is reported to do. It has been shown to inhibit both A and B MAO at 80-90%! It seems to increase energy but not be stimulating (great for adrenal fatigue). If it grows hair then that's a hell of a bonus.

I never hear 'bad' things about Rhodiola. Only good. However I've never heard it helps hairloss. Any other thoughts on this?

Anything that reduces stress and is an adaptigen will be good for you. Keep thinking holistically... - and in moderation, i.e. no one thing will be good for you all the time always. You have to 'adapt'...

Brings up a very good point actually.

Many people report the effects of rosea wearing off after 4 weeks+. Would be a good idea to cycle it.

Anyone here got any experiences with it in regards to adrenal fatigue?
