Re: How much kefir to drink?
I did 1 cup when I was loading - others have reported drinking more. You should give it a break as well (one week off in a month, etc).

7 to 8 glasses a day. do not rely on thirst signals alone to tell you when to drink. if you do not drink enough water, body cells cannot function properly.

Re: How much kefir to drink?
Does anyone know if coconut kefir is as effective as raw milk kefir? Raw milk just goes bad too quick for me to keep it in the house and I'm not entirely sold on Trader Joe's pasteurized kefir. Also, does anyone know where to get high quality grains for home use? Thanks.

Coconut milk kefir is inferior.
Use organic pasteurized milk to make your kefir.
Go to kefirlady.com to get your own kefir starter.
Nothing will come near making your own! Instructions are all provided through her site in the package that you order.

Come on nid, you can do better... Use organic RAW milk to make your kefir.
Do you really think ancient caucasian people used pasteurized milk ? respect the kefir man !
OR do what i do, which means fruit kefir. no more milk issues.
I let you elaborate and discuss about the milk / fruit kefir differences.
Or, by the way, fruit kefir does ot contain sugar in the final mix. ( or at least an infime amount)

Raw milk is really hard to get around where I live. Nid, do you have a response to the RAW mil advocation. I really just want to know how much of a difference it will make. I mean since the kefir cultures are eating the lactose, and the lactose is the main problem when pastuerized then organic pastuerized shouldn't make much of a difference at all? Am I wrong?
However, I just bought some goats milk kefir from Whole Foods and drank a ton of it. I looked at the back and saw th stat of 11 g of sugar per serving! That's totally gonna spike my blood sugar I'm sure. Does anyone know how the sugar in store bought reacts with the body? Is it nullified in any way? I sure hope it is or I just did some damage haha.

I'm curious about the sugar content as well, I've been drinking a lot of organic kefir lately, but its loaded with sugar (10g per 8oz and I've been drinking like 32 oz per day). How does everyone else get around the sugar issue?
