are there any useful lab tests I could take? Everything I have taken so far show me as in perfect health...
so as the title says: all the tests show me as healthy or at least in a "healthy range", but I don't really feel healthy and I am obviously losing hair so something must be wrong...
hundreds of dollars spent, and I got nothing to go on meaning I don't what problem do I have that I would need to tackle.
so now what... what tests should I be taking next?

Maybe it's just a DHT thing. Us poor buggers that are genetically susceptible to the ravaging effects of DHT on hair follicles don't have much to go on.

Well, number 1, most tests, which include most of what was run, are not that relevant to what causes hair loss.
Some of them maybe relevant, but not the correct form of test.
That's just the nature of the medical system that has been largely adapted world wide. It's based on a model designed
by the medical cartel and not too relevant to optimal health, much less hair loss.

What he said.
I got a full check up in 2016 and turned out I was "healthy as an ox."
Obviously I wasn't. Not just in terms of hair loss, but in other respects as well.
To my understanding these tests determine whether you are completely fucked up or not. Mostly on the surface level.
So unless you are suffering from something serious, in most cases they'll turn out "healthy."
And looking at the hairloss puzzle, it definitely isn't a superficial thing that relates to overall health determined by very generic tests.
If it was that obvious, then it would have been treated ages ago.

well then my question would be: what tests SHOULD I be running? Would it be worth checking my SHBG levels? I'm thinking I should test myself for food allergies next. After that, do analysis on my gut but I have to find a company that does that because I remember one startup company that was doing this cheaply went bankrupt...

Since everyone has unique challenges, it is difficult to come up with a set up tests without being really broad sweeping or general.
For example, I've suggested up to 100 different tests, but only a subset for any particular individual.
However, all that said I'll list maybe the most general that applies to at least the primary foundation of the aging process, because regardless how the hair loss occurs, I think we can all agree that the aging process is a factor.
So tests that help quantify the measure of oxidative enzymes, such as oxidative phosphorylation, part of the electron transport-linked phosphorylation is the metabolic pathway in which cells use enzymes to oxidize nutrients, thereby releasing the chemical energy of molecular oxygen to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP).
Foundational health is missing and most "health advice" is based on misinformation promoted through pharmaceutical mouth pieces.
So by foundational, I mean that our soils have no more adequate levels of minerals and there is a saturation of glyphosate (Round-up) in the air, water and soil to chelate (bind to critical minerals, already in low supply), which are needed to make fundamental enzyme activities in the body.
So if we listen to "health authorities or experts" they are only promoting unproven methods that everyone's already heard of, but rarely have any true meaning.
It's not cholesterol that we could be worried about for example. Instead we should be more concerned about iron. Also, on point of cholesterol, some of us are not getting enough.
Back on iron, many places in the world have had iron filings added to the food supply (it's killing us literally). The problem here is that ages people....then we will hear, but what about anemia? Answer anemia is not principally because of low iron--sure raising it will "help" but also poison us and make us sicker (that includes females even menstruating).
We should ask ourselves, why do people who donate blood live significantly longer than those who do not? Iron "rusts" us, produces hydroxyl radicals (that's the product that causes hair loss...bottom line.)
Then there's sulfur, there's practically zero in soils.
There's dozens of other minerals we need to be concerned about too. Basically without them, we cannot make superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX).

Also, not just knowing what tests (which is different in everyone) but how to interpret them, so general tests have little use.
I'll just mention some very basic ones.
Copper
Hemoglobin
Iron & TIBC
Magnesium Red blood cell
Selenium Red blood cell
Transferrin
Vitamin A (Retinol)
Vitamin D
Zinc
Yet, these are very basic and without knowing how to interpret them, still not of value.
What about SHBG? Depends on age, a very low reading would suggest different focus on treatment.
All that aside the reason some young people are losing there hair maybe less relevant to the aging problem, so then what?
It gets down to similar processes, just more precocious.
For example, one man could drink spirits everyday and no lose a hair on their head, then another will lose it like quicksand. Why? There are many reasons, sometimes it's methylation.
Still, it's rarely just one or a few things, we're up against a lot (this is just the drop in the bucket).

did a Histamine blood test just cause some people on another forum think that that would be a good indicator of issues with methylation... and yet again, perfects numbers. Literally right in the middle:

Histamine is hugely important...but unfortunately, few things are that cut and dry. Most of the best ways to "test" for histamine are proxy markers, or rather indirect measurements. It's not a straightforward interpretation.
To that end, you could do a self assessment and ascertain if you exhibit any symptoms of histamine intolerance, and then do a deeper dive into it.

I'm doing 23andme next. I found a bunch sites that could tell you if you are predisposed to issues with methylation/detoxing based on your DNA profile. Been reading a lot of info off of phoenix rising forums, and so much of it matches up with my symptoms. I definitely do have candida, so I suspect heavy metals too. We will see in 2-4 weeks. I'm afraid to blindly take large doses of B12/Folate without knowing exactly which types to take, and apparently DNA test is the best way at finding out what to take according to those forums.

Honestly, most of the 23 & Me is a waste of time, money and resources.
Also, folate/B12 is not as relevant, because of emerging researching revealing this was a half-truth.

too late now. Already gave them $200 + sent my dna I don't think it would hurt to find out if I inherited some sort of "defects" that have to do with detoxification or something else. I'm surprised so few people have done DNA testing on this forum. I know the test will also show my predisposition to things like baldness so I'm curious what that's going to say.
CausticSymmetry wrote:Also, folate/B12 is not as relevant, because of emerging researching revealing this was a half-truth.
I see a lot of success stories from people following these b12/folate/other regimens, so we'll see what that will do to me. I took immune boost 77 for a couple months, and I don't think that did anything for me. There is not that much research behind it to be honest. Taking DMSA made me feel REALLY good for a while, but then I was feeling worse and I couldn't bother waking up multiple times a night so I stopped using it. Heavy metal detox is definitely a part of getting healthy and stopping baldness, I just think there's something wrong with my body that prevents any detox protocol from doing what it's supposed to do.
I will be reporting my progress and posting my DNA results to this forum. I think I'm onto something here for the first time.

UPDATE:
I don't know if this maybe belongs in a separate thread, but I just go back my DNA results and I am just very surprised at the results...
.... yeah, but I have both, and I am way under 40. They got this wrong too:
Because my hair used to be very thick actually.
And first thing you would think is that maybe they messed up my results or mixed it up with someone else, but nope, they nailed everything else from my eye color down to my ancestry that literally traced it down to the REGION of the country of where my parents are originally from. Very impressive detail.
Anyways, it must be right. I guess the best takeaway from this is that maybe this means that I won't pass down baldness down to my potential children? Who knows. I know CS is very much against MPB being caused by genetics, and I feel the same way.
I'm off to run my raw DNA data through those other sites that check for "defective" detoxification genes...
