Food supplements causing liver damage
How would it be possible to tell if supplements high in antioxidants, such as green tea, ecklonia cava .etc. are not causing liver damage.

In short, probably a resounding "no"
Make no mistake, major media (mainstream media) is reliant on pharmaceuticals for most of their revenue. So "hit" pieces on supplements continue on the regular. Meanwhile, pharmaceutical wares kill twice as many people as traffic accidents every year.
What the BBC article failed to mention his man's medical history, which is likely to have information that cannot be shared.
OTC drugs like ibuprofen, acetaminophen (paracetamol), destroy thousands of livers every year and cause tens of thousands of deaths. Then there's iron overload, a relatively common problem that will render your liver into the grave.
Even vaccinations can destroy liver and kidneys.
There's one particular supplement I've used for 15 years and it has 40 years of research behind it to reverse severe liver diseases (that one is lipoic acid). Always of course research, but usually with articles their intent is usually to instigate fear and dependence on modern medicine, which is a proven failure in the area of prevention.

If you are not that sure then go check the product online and look for some review.
