viral colds.... Empty viral colds....

I've got one. Thought it might have been bacterial but the doc say nope. So he didn't give me any antibiotics. Just have to endure it and hope for the best. Would garlic be good to try? That's mostly an antibiotic I think. Any natural cures for those cursed colds? I did try taking ginseng at the beginning but it didn't do much. Ginseng is supposed to boost your immune system.

Hi, garlic is good if you can stomach it. I can eat a section or 2 raw on a full stomach. It is strong enough to keep my skin clear and immunity up to par.
If you read up on the link below, I testify that half a tablespoon of ascorbic acid a day has kept me from getting sick as I travel on planes, and go to cold countries where so many people walk around with colds. I was fully convinced when the few times I felt like I was getting sick, and my throat felt like it was going to be sore. I took the vit C and in 4 hours I felt completely fine.

I might try that. Might be a little late now that I've got it. Strange too cuz I eat a lot of oranges which are a good source of C as well.

A glass of OJ is said to have around 90 mg of vitamin C , really not too much when considering that a megadose can be up to 60,000 grams as others took on the above link. I guess I take around 10,000 when I am dosing, there is a test to determine your amount in the link above. I go on and off the dose, and supplement with minerals and multivitamin alternately.

here is a contrarian view to weigh against the other research

Guess I was right afterall. There is a bacterial infection. I went to a different doc for another opinion since I was getting worse with a hacking cough that wouldn't let me sleep. Bacterial and viral colds are similar so in a lot of cases it's a coin toss. But I knew from past experience this was similar to a bronchitis I had except this time the coughing fits only showed up when I layed down. So now I'm on zithromax and I'm starting to feel better.

Still it wouldn't hurt to add a vit C supplement to my diet since occasional fruit indulgence may not be enuff.
