Stopping finasteride ? IH6 supps
Hey guys,
I already explained my situation in early posts but here is a short summary:
I'm 20 years old, started diffuse thinning 9 months ago. It was a massive shed and I lost a lot of hair. I started taking finasteride 3 months after the beginning, so basically 6 months ago. I thought it had reduced the massive shedding but I am still losing hair and I can see my hairline receiding and my crown thinning. Do you think it is too early to say that finasteride doesn't work for me ?
I was feeling pain on my hairline and crown when I would press my fingers on them but it has started to reduce (maybe because I started detumescence 2 weeks ago approx).
I feel that it is we're I feel the most pain that I'm thinning the most.
Also, I ordered the IH6 regimen and am going to start as soon as I receive it. But do you think I should stop finasteride ? I heard that taking finasteride could make you hypothyroid or just fuck up your thyroid, is that true ? Cause it's one of the main cause of mpb am I right ?
Oh btw I also started to take vitamins B, magnesium, iron, zinc and vitamin D. Did I miss something important ?
Thank you for your help

The pain u get is due to being hypothyroid, i got it when i was on finasteride and after alot of research i found that most hypothyroids have this along with hair loss. Finasteride will make u hypo as it causes estrogen dominance.

JamesDean - I would suggest not including iron, because men tend to over accumulate iron. Yes, essentially finasteride causes or can cause some form of endocrine disruption. Also, there is a real effect on neurosteroids, which are metabolites of DHT, necessary for protection against anxiety, depression in the brain.

That's interesting YAER. I can remember feeling that pain as far back as 18 years old, and at the time I just thought it was normal. I even asked friends if their scalps ever felt sore and they just looked at me like I was stupid. Of course that was the exact same time that I started to lose my hair. How did you address your thyroid problem?

Yes, i would also really like to know how did you fix this thyroid problem. So do you think I should stop finasteride ? Even if I have absolutely no side effects ? It just reduced my hairloss but didn't stop it. I really think that detumescence can be the key to actually reduce this pain and inflammation, maybe even stop hairloss?

James Dean, there'll be a ton of guys on this forum who will tell you to get off the fin, and the sooner the better - this place is mostly about addressing problems in a safe, natural way.
I've been doing DT for around 5 months now and it definitely helps with the inflammation while you're doing it and for about an hour after (for me it's only an hour or two anyway, but my hair loss is very advanced, for other guys it may last longer).
DT can definitely reduce inflammation and stop hair loss IMO, especially if you're catching it early - but I don't know how sustainable it is, since it's not really addressing the root of the problem. Even I have had minor regrowth and I've been losing my hair for roughly 20 years now. New hairs popping up where there haven't been any for a loooooooong time :-)
For me, it's like popping a headache pill to alleviate the pain, while I look for the deeper stuff ... Having said all that, I fluctuate between wanting to know the root cause, and being of the opinion that it's not even necessary to know what it is, but that's a topic for another thread.

Did detumescence actually stopped your hairloss ?
I don't know what to do with finasteride because I have absolutely no side effects. But my hair keeps falling..
I believe in detumescence because why do people who go bald, only go bald at the top, and not at the sides ?
This has to do with blood flow no ?

Bro, to be honest there was nothing left to stop - I was pretty much completely bald, apart from some sparse growth on the 'island'. That's why I can only comment on regrowth.
But if I'm having new hairs springing up after years of hair follicles being dormant, then my feeling is that DT can definitely stop hair loss.
Yes, blood / lymph flow is part of the picture - it seems to me to be one of the last effects in a chain of cause and effect, if that makes sense.
