Easy way of keeping IRON levels low: wear sunglasses!
Its been discussed on this forum for years and years, about how too much iron in the body causes not only hair loss but also a lot of aging related diseases like diabetes and heart disease. Some even believe that iron and other mineral cumulation is the primary cause of aging itself. I've even posted studies showing how donating blood can be more helpful to insulin levels than even diet changes!
Now consider why poorer people have much better heads of hair, it could be because they eat more grains and vegetables which chelate iron from their bodies, while more wealthier people have more money to spend on animal products which is going to have more iron and calcium. I also think that this is the reason why white people bald a lot more often than other races, because whites absorb more iron than the others, whites have much higher rates of the hereditary problem which makes you absorb too much iron from food.
So I saw this article here, that made me pretty happy, because I HATE donating blood. AND I also hate eating a high grain diet to chelate iron because I tend to get some pretty nasty cavities when I eat a high-grain diet. So if its possible to keep your iron down just by keeping my Wiley X polarized glasses on, that would be excellent.
So I was thinking, I am someone who had pretty high iron for my age when I caught it, and I am one of those people who NEVER wore sunglasses my entire life. I thought it looked stupid, and I prefered the all-natural look. I also thought it was bad for you because I know that you get a lot of vitamin D from your eyes. So anyway, I started prematurely balding in early twenties.
Now when I come to think about it, I do notice a trend here in my friends that the ones who do wear sunglasses often, tend to have better hair than the people I know who I never see wearing sunglasses. What do you think?
Oh yeah, and here's the link:

So who wants to try the Cyclops from X-men look with me? Let's wear our Oakleys, Smiths, Sunclouds, Wiley X's and Maui Jims all day and night, even when indoors.

So you want to give yourself anemia by lowering you folic acid levels? The article says nothing about iron levels.

This theory that wearing sunglasses lowers your melanin levels which allows folic acid to be destroyed only matters if your skin is exposed to direct sunlight. If you are indoors, driving, or wearing clothes then none of this matters. Lowering your folic acid levels doesn't sound like a great plan to me.Espio wrote:So who wants to try the Cyclops from X-men look with me? Oh your right, it wouldn't actually lower your iron stores would it, it would just lower the amount of oxygen carrying blood cells, in effect causing anemia without the low iron.
Nevermind.

I'd suggest the opposite. Optic nerve has plenty of properties that are involved in transport the light into the nervous system. Looking in the sun directly is no go, as UV lights will do you damage. Looking in the clouds or wait sun to go down so that most of UV is scattered away, sunlight should do you good in most of every aspect.

Many connect just vitamin D with the sunlight exposure, since it's most significant effect of V -D on human genome. However radiation responsible for VD is a very small fraction of all EMF we get from the sunlight. Many mechanisms with different colors or beyond human eyes spectrum are yet to be discovered and well understood.

Whether one is a vegan, vegetarian or a carnivorian (like me), they would be best advised by avoiding excessive grains.
I also don't wear sunglasses...I think doing so might boost losing eye sight quicker....(the evidence is still is mounting on this).
In order to metabolize iron so that it doesn't overload, it is a good idea to take in a lot of sulfur/sulphur.
Sulfur is necessary to facilitate electron transport which is part of iron and sulfur connection proteins in the mitochondria.
In contrast, eating grains not only contains fortified, toxic iron, but it often contains herbicides that inhibit sulfur transport in the body. Moreover, heme iron, which comes from meat contains substances (such as carnosine) that protect against iron oxidation.

CS, what amount of grains should we be eating then? How much is too much? 2-3 times a week?

That depends on metabolism/metabolic type. Grains themselves are not necessary....however, I like most people dig them
So it depends on your tolerance level. Many people have such a compromised gut system that can't afford to consume any grains, except for rice. I have a weakness for pizza...and at least for me, my body can handle it pretty well.
Some people have a lot of amylase enzymes, which allows them to digest starches quite well. Others lack this enzyme in the quantities necessary. I can't handle eating just pure starch without having a insulin surge, so I'll buffer it out with some protein. Then there is fast vs slow oxidizers. Slow oxidizers can handle higher loads of carbs...still there are herbicides in these grains, plus mycotoxins...so it's usually best if possible to limit intake of these.
If there is a yeast overgrowth present...not uncommon these days, then the immune system can present a challenge and target wheat or other grains that have gluten, thinking they are Candida, because the molecules (gliadin and Candida are identical).
Making a long story short...whatever you can get away with..for some it is none, for others it is a lot.

You know what everyone keeps repeating that sunglasses are good for your eyes and if you don't wear them you'll get glaucoma and all these other eye problems later in life. But I can't find ANY evidence at all that this is actually true, that sunglasses protect your eyes at all from any problems.

Yes, I agree. I think it's a case of...keep them fearing the sun, so they'll keep buying sunglasses.

Mercola did an article just a few weeks ago on sunglasses, he said the only time he wears them is when he is boating or skiiing, or in some condition where the sunlight is reflected onto your eyes all day. If he's not doing an activity like that, he says don't bother wearing them because your eyes need the sunlight.

My story exactly, speaking of which - is there possible reversal in diopter once it appears with the nutrition + eyes gymnastics?CausticSymmetry wrote:

Iodine can lower iron levels. Don't have a link but I think it was on the yahoo iodine forums, there was mention of it being a treatment for hemochromatosis. I'm sure some quick googling would bring something up if anyone is curious.

I had heard, which is strictly anecdotal that using a rebounder (it's like a small trampoline) will strengthen the eye muscles, along with all of the other muscles of the body.
Zinc definitely improves the eyes...no question about it.
I will confirm that yes, iodine does reduce iron levels...it helps it convert into energy.
