I'm noticing that plaque and scale is forming on the back of my lower front teeth even though I brush almost daily. I haven't been to a dentist in a couple years but I was wondering if maybe I can clean the plaque off myself. Like maybe buy one of those metal hooked instruments they use to scrape and pull the hard scale off. Do you think this can be done safely and painlessly? Or should I let a pro do it.

Vitamin C is to scurvy... and Vitamin D is to rickets... and potassium is to angina... etc. what vitamin K2 is to dental plaque. In other words, you likely have a vitamin K2(MK-4 and/or MK-7) deficiency. Short and sweet. Smile

I got some tartar stains off my teeth using a "push scaler". It has a sharp, wide point on the end. I was as gentle as possible and built up intensity very gradually; better to take forever than to damage your enamel. I would however leave the gumline and below to the professionals.

I have found K2-MK4 and calcium keep my teeth quite smooth, but they didn't touch the tartar unfortunately.
