Five foods just as bad as wheat...

Is rice really that bad for you? I should just go riceless on my sushi.

Didn't this answer your question?

That's a Mercola article right? IME to be taken with a grain of salt (and supplemental research).

Re: Five foods just as bad as wheat...
Look up the "safe starches" concept from Paul Jaminet. I think he recommends white potato, sweet potato, white rice, tapioca, taro, sago and plantain. http://perfecthealthdiet.com/the-diet/
All foods have something wrong with them and you'll end up orthorexic if you follow all the advice you read online. I don't believe diets cure anything, but they can control our symptoms until we solve the underlying problems.
I don't know what your symptoms are, but this is an interesting guide from a mercury group on trialling different diets: http://onibasu.com/archives/am/260286.html

Re: Five foods just as bad as wheat...
There is no correct diet for everyone.
What to avoid depends entirely on the person.
Personally, I try to avoid the following:
Pasteurized milk, canola oil, soy oil, cottonseed oil and anything hydrogenated.
Generally I avoid grain foods most of the day--with some exceptions.
I'll eat sourdough bread (it's safer wheat) or some, like myself can get away with wheat---if it has been heated
to very high temperatures (as in a pizza)
Having said that, a lot of people couldn't handle the dairy, just depends. We are all different.

Very truly stated here that if one starts to follow the advice of the many 'experts' out there - you'll end up probably malnourished.
And thank you CS for pointing out that each individual is unique - i actually had a consultation with CS about my diet and was very pleased with his overall assessment. I actually am finally gaining some weight now.
I first suspected Candida about a year ago and cut out all fruits - the result was fatigue, burdened kidney, liver and just plain old weakness. Once i started incorporating fruits back i felt so much better.
Personally i avoid gluten and have rice, sweet potatoes and millet bread (pure home made) for the starch.
