Iodine - How has it helped you?
Just started on Lugols 2 percent 1 drop and will increase slowly from there. Just wondering if supplemental iodine has helped anyone here on the forums and how it has.
I am also supplementing with Vitamin C approx 3 mg per day and 200mg selenium. Will add magnesium.

Re: Iodine - How has it helped you?
Personally, I didn't notice any outright benefits. Some detox symptoms at the beginning without a doubt, which we can deduce are beneficial by definition. But the problem with my case is that I don't believe I took iodine for long enough to become saturated so I probably didn't see the full benefits. Honestly, I got the elevated TSH results back and used it as a reason to stop. After doing some more research on the subject, I don't believe the problem was iodine. I am fully planning on getting back on iodine pretty soon and am planing to take it for longer and see if I notice anything outright. Although a lot of sources suggest a loading period (using 50 mg doses once you've built up slowly of course), I am still not convinced that this is a good idea.
A lot of users here have used really high doses with no adverse effects. Others have problems.

I recommend using the "Google" function instead of the "Inside" to search this site. This topic has come up so many times.
All possible questions will be answered by reading loads of posts that exist within it.
This is a topic that requires extensive reading to understand everything. It's a game changer for some people, for others it is not. That's pretty much the bottom line. How you'll react to it is not a black and white issue either.
Having said that...it's an essential mineral, at least 90% world wide are deficient and it's necessary for the entire body.
I've taken as much as several hundred milligrams per day in the past...but always (always) start very small, very gradually to find out how you react...wait to see the reaction. If you feel really good....reduce the dose or even get a break from it for a few days...because...a detox wave could be coming.

This is why I'm going to start as low as 225 mcg. Keep there for a month and then try bumping up to 500 etc. We'll see how it goes.

Re: Iodine - How has it helped you?
I started off with low dosages of iodoral for a few months, had some minor detox symptoms but nothing that had me worried. Moved up the dosage later on and i kept on it for a good while, recently switched to the one CS has on his regime page, the drops. I like the taste of it in water..maybe I'm weird.
How has it helped me? Well for one it cleared up the brain fog i had after quitting propecia. My anxiety has cleared up quite a bit and so did my depression (funny how i never had those until i started fin)
On a side note did anyone else get a warm feeling in their throat when taking iodine for the first time? It felt really nice now i don't get it any more. I keep thinking it was my thyroid just embracing the iodine like "oh yeah that's the shit right there"

Re: Iodine - How has it helped you?
I got that warm tingly feeling when I first tried iodine. I too assumed it was the iodine/potassium iodide hitting my thyroid. Kinda creeped me out a little, though, so was glad when it went away. I had unpleasant sides when I first tried iodine so I always thought the feeling meant more like I was really, badly deficient. When the feeling went away I assumed it meant I was getting better or at least wasn't as badly deficient any more.theseeker86 wrote:On a side note did anyone else get a warm feeling in their throat when taking iodine for the first time? I think iodine has helped me with my overall energy level and feeling of well-being. I also think that in combination with noni (morinda) powder, it helped get rid of my warts.

Re: Iodine - How has it helped you?
I don't know if it's helped me, but I will say that my TSH hit a high of 63 and my doctor wanted me to see a specialist, but I didn't because I knew this was to be excpected. After about 1.5 years of taking it (12.5 mg a day for the most part, but higher between months 2-5) it was 5.1 on my last test, just out of the normal range.
I used to take Iosol but found the taste unpleasant. Now I take the Swanson Ultra Triple Iodine Complex which came out recently. (Much cheaper than the Terry Naturally brand, yet has a photo of the guy on the side of the bottle.)

Re: Iodine - How has it helped you?
I have been taking 2.5 mg a day for the past week and half and I have noticed less anxiety and when I wake up in the morning im more alert. 4 days after taking it I went out for drink and only had to use the restroom once. Usually I make multiple trips. I havent had any adverse reactions.

63! Whoa... If I got those lab tests I'd be terrified and drop everything
I wonder what was happening with the thyroid at that point that caused it to go so high.
Tonight I dreamed about taking 100mg of iodine (I don't take any at the moment). Weird.

Re: Iodine - How has it helped you?
I'm pretty nervous to get my TSH tested because i know it would probably be pretty out there and the doc would make a big deal over it.
It's strange, i mean i feel better overall since taking it but i keep thinking what if it's actually doing some damage. I am quite a paranoid person though.

Re: Iodine - How has it helped you?
TSH can be elevated to levels of 75 for up to 6 months with no clinical symptoms. The thyroid gland is doing its job. TSH rises to increase thyroglobulin which binds to the increased iodine in the blood stream to create thyroid hormones T4 and T3. Of course, Orthodox physicians will scream about this TSH rise. However, they are not familiar with iodine therapy and the changes that are taking place (thyroglobulin).
First 6-months of TSH changes means the thyroid is not being harmed....but since indoctrinated 'wisdom' doesn't known beyond ancient teaching of rat-based research medical orthodoxy it doesn't realize what's really happening.
Testing Free T3 and Free T4 along with evaluating clinical symptoms when seeing increasing TSH numbers in iodine supplementation.

Re: Iodine - How has it helped you?
FWIW, it took a little over 1.5 years, but my TSH is now in the normal range (according to my doctor, anyhow), clocking in at 3.5 on my last test. Just thought I'd add some anecdotal evidence that high dose iodine does spike TSH tests but it does drop back down over time (or at least it did for me) .
