Topical Iodine - best product
Just wondering from guys like Funky and others who have used topical iodine, is there any consensus on the best product to use? I know that lugol's would be very impractical because of the staining and most OTC white iodine is loaded with ammonia.
The best one I can seem to find is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-Strong-White-Iodine-Alopecia-Nails-15ml-No-Alcohol-Ammonia-Free-UK-P-P-/221188714573?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Nails_Manicure_Pedicure_CA&hash=item337fdff04d
I am not sure if this would absorb properly into the skin or not. I have read that iodine topically will absorb into this skin without alcohol or a carrier of some sort.
Any thoughts?

Re: Topical Iodine - best product
I used Lugol's topically two years ago. It was the only topical that's ever had a noticeable reaction on my scalp. The skin got scaly and plastic-feeling after a few nightly uses. I decided to stop using it because I was unsure of the effect it was going to have, plus the orange stain was gross.
I've been considering white iodine for a few weeks now, to give it another try. Also considering topical estriol in conjunction. (estradiol is expensive). There aren't too many good brands of white iodine out there, some claiming to be ineffective from reviews, but of course those are subjective.
My scalp is in good condition- I do manuals, massage, muscle stretch, so I'm hoping the problem is localized, where iodine can (possibly in combination) restore the environment.

Best product?What do you mean?
White iodine is pure potassium iodide and can help with skin fibrosis.
Tincture of iodine is a combination of iodine and potassium iodide with alcohol.
Lugol's is a solution of iodine and contains iodine and potassium iodide(more than tincture).
Iodoral is lugol's in tablet form ,for ingestion.
You should try every single of them ,and come to a conclusion of what
it fits best for you.

Re: Topical Iodine - best product
I guess I'm assuming that ammonia/alcohol based white iodine topicals shouldn't be used because they are toxic, but am wondering if the pure white iodine based topicals will actually have an effect (since lugol's is too impractical to use).
I know there aren't many products like that but am wondering if anyone has used any with success. If so, which ones?
