It's rather well-known that synthetic enzymes have the ability to approach and bind with more then one type of enzyme. What other enzymes then 5-alpha-reductase type-1 does finasteride merge with? And if any, how big of a deal would this be?

Misirlou - Finasteride is mostly an irreversible type II inhibitor, but it also inhibits type I.

But finasteride binds with 5-AR to decrease conversation of T into DHT, right?

Why do you call it "irreversible" ? Would .25 mg a day be that bad according to you? alien

Misirlou - "Irreversible" in this case, means that nothing in the body can fix it as long as you're on the drug.

.25 mg from what I've heard works about as well as the regular dose. Not sure if it's any safer.

So you mean that there are no other natural or synthetic substances that can be used to limit the possible sides from finasteride?

Misirlou - Blocking DHT has one immeditely consequence which is inhibiting nitric oxide (NO), which means low libido function. Since without NO, blood doesn't get where it needs to be during arousal.

The solution here is Arginine Pyroglutamate, a sustained form of arginine that doesn't inhibit lysine.

So basically arginine pyro will combat erection problems due to finasteride by maintaining NO levels?

Misirlou - I think it will help, but there are other things that will be missing. Since Finasteride increases opportunities of anxiety and depression, there is one other side to it. One member that used to post at regrowth used a combination of Arginine and Yohimbe. Yohimbe helps with dopamine a little, but usually the effects don't last. There's also the idea of using progesterone cream to counter some negatives from Finasteride.
