electrolysis & hair regeneration
Hi
Does anybody have any idea if hair can regenerate after having electrolysis performed?
what exactly is the damage that electrolysis does to a follicle?
i had electrolysis performed in an area that i now regret and want to regain, anyone have any ideas as to any topical approach that may help me out?
i was thinking of trying valproic acid since it has been show to regenerate hair.
it sounds like to me electrolysis leaves a scar behind preventing any hair from growing out...so if this scar can be removed then is it right for me to say hair may grow out again.
AGA also appears to scar the follicle eventually.
Histologic changes of human hair follicles after electrolysis: a comparison of two methods.
The histologic changes induced by thermolysis of hairs of the scalp and legs were studied by light microscopy. Two techniques were compared on opposite sides: conventional thermolysis (erroneously termed electrolysis) using bare needles and a newly designed precision epilator using an insulated, bulbous-tipped probe. Thermolysis generally did not immediately eliminate the papilla and hair matrix. Thermal injury provoked an inflammatory reaction which eventually destroyed the hair bulb. The insulated probe produced greater damage to the peribulbar tissue below and less necrosis of the perifollicular dermis above, enhancing the likelihood of permanent epilation and reducing the probability of scarring. The infundibulum and associated sebaceous glands regenerated to near-normal architecture. The lower follicle was replaced by a fibrotic streamer--a scar.
any ideas how to try and get rid of this scar thats stopping growth?
im currently trying minoxidil.

Re: electrolysis & hair regeneration
Permanent removal of unwanted hair.
Abstract
BACKGROUND:
Currently available methods for permanent removal of unwanted body hair are either slow or may result in painful side effects or scarring.
OBJECTIVE:
The authors investigated the safety and effectiveness of galvanic current by patch and probe technique as a method of permanent hair removal.
RESULTS:
Microscopic evidence confirmed that galvanic current treatment using either a probe or patch technique induced alopecia through perifollicular fibrosis. Hair counts indicated that this treatment was equally or more effective than wax-only or electrolysis treatments at 12 and 15 weeks after commencement of treatment. Clinical observation suggested that it caused less irritation or discomfort to patients.
CONCLUSIONS:
Preliminary investigations indicate that galvanic current treatments are a fast, safe, and effective means of permanent hair removal. Further evaluations of longer-term treatment effectiveness are underway.
perficollicular firbosis is something that occurs in AGA too. Anyone have any ideas how to reverse this?
