5 AR enzyme
hey....
CS, i read like others your immortal site pages...
We all know the importance of 5 AR. you state furthermore :
"While it is widely thought that Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) via 5-alpha-reductase enzyme is soley responsible for androgenetic alopecia (AGA) or male-pattern baldness. The theory of 5-alpha-reductase inhibition is far from replete. 5-alpha-reductase is relentlessly targeted for enlarged prostate (BPH) and androgenetic hair loss, yet there are many other mitogenic substances with strong influence. "
"Isoenzymes such as 17beta-hydroxysteriod dehydrogenase (17beta-HSD) and 5-alpha-reductase are key mediators in the pathogenesis of AGA. Thus (17beta-HSD) has been largely ignored. "
Can you explain this please :
1) At this moment, how do you deal with the 5 AR regarding your actual regimen. (inhibition of the enzyme, conversion, mimicking androgen receptor, don't bother the 5 AR....etc...???)
2) same question with 17beta-hydroxysteriod dehydrogenase (17beta-HSD) since the 7 HMR has been removed ( enterolactone).
More globaly, my questions deal with the DHT target ( except high omega 3 and low starch/sugars that help lower dht)...Thanks to you all.

Re: 5 AR enzyme
europe - The expression of 17-beta-HSD is largely determined in the gut, or rather the gut microflora. When there is an imbalance of good to bad bacteria imbalances in both androgen and estrogen can occur. This is why incorporating fermented food or taking a good probiotic can reduce hair loss and keep the skin free of acne.
Curcumin and particulary iodine (wish there was more research on it) can help keep some negatives of estrogen at a minimum it would seem by what research is available.
