All you "brushers"- try this
I was brushing last night with my boar bristle brush and decided I would try brushing my forehead. My bristles have softened quite a bit because I have had it for 2 years and topical oils have gotten onto it. I think a new brush would be too 'sharp' for this.
Anyway, I found brushing my forehead felt pretty good and started brushing lower all the way from my eyebrows to my hairline. What I discovered was when I brushed from between my eyebrows straight up the middle of my forehead, I would get this weird sensation and it felt good. It caused a nerve or something in the back of my head to twitch. That is the best way I can describe it. I did it too much actually and ended up scraping the skin off of my forehead. So today I have what looks like a golf ball size scab pattern.
I want other people to try this out to see if they experience this sensation i am talking about or if it is just me. If your brush is too sharp I'm guessing a regular brush would work too. I can't do it again until my forehead heals up lol.

I do massage on the forehead for the same reason you experienced!
Maybe it has to do with the "galea" there has been so much talk about, I find
massaging the forehead relieves itching on the hairline.

Skin brushing has been around for a long time and is very good for you. It increases blood circulation, promotes the circulation of lymph (and thereby the elimination of toxins), etc. I think (lightly) brushing your face with a soft bristled brush or lightly abrasive mitt is benefcial in general, even if it doesn't necessary help you grow hair or make the back of your head twitch. LOL
I have a couple of soft abrasive mitts that I use on my face regularly, and with my daily scalp massage I always spend a few minutes on my forehead and my whole face. Feels great!

Massaging the soft part near your ear just where your sideburns start to form feels orgasmic. You should also try that.
