Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
Hey,
I've had IBS-C for a long time and it's a nightmare, I eat a pristine diet and still get constipated like crazy to the point where it's hard to breathe.
I can't figure out what the hell causes it, it seems like my gut clenches up no matter what I put in there...
I'm going insane here, I'm scared of eating anything at this point and my hair feels like shit when my gut is at its worst. I've tried so many supplements and food combinations and even though by some miracle it sometimes works it always reverts back even if I don't change anything.
Am I just defective? I get mucus in my stool sometimes but most of the time it's just hard little rock stools. Sorry for the ''shitty'' topic but I don't know what to do anymore honestly....

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
I had constipation for 6 months during which i only went to the toilet once weekly! I went on a full course of
triphala which pretty started normal digestion going again (and shit coming out daily, and not just small round hard
ones). I kept taking triphala for a year, taking alot of it atleast 2-3 times daily. Damiana also helped.

Triphala is on my waiting list, a potential antibiofilm agent.
How is your digestion cpio today? do you still use triphala?

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
Magnesium + Vitamin C (1,000 mg or more) is usually enough to get things rolling.

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
I already eat a pristine diet, zero processed foods no sugar other than some fruit and no grains.
I take vit C and Magnesium already, I just don't know what's wrong! Some things just make me clench up like crazy to the point where it is so unfomfortable that it's all I can think about...
I have problems with food intolerance but at this point I don't feel safe eating anything really, I just don't know what to do!

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
Icanbeatthis - In your case, it sounds like you have something unique happening, so a few questions. If you find that you are allergic to most foods, and also exhibit the following symptoms, low energy in the morning, better functioning at night.
You might be low cortisol.

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
Simplest to start with is you need bile IMO/IME. Can google bile constipation or similar for more info.
I prefer this above betaine.

Only need a couple drops on tongue rather than the large doses the instructions gives. Can put in a dropper bottle for convenience.

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
I agree with oirvblp if the answer to the above question is incorrect.
On the same note, the first phase of digestion begins with bile, so taking the following product can solve a potential problem here.

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
I am exactly as you described CS, VERY low energy in the morning a bit more at night.
I am extremely anxious all the time, I feel like I can't cope with anything... I honestly feel like I'm gonna die or something but all my bloodwork is perfect, one other weird thing is that iodine makes me hypothyroid!
I seriously can't take lugols or my thyroid wigs out and my hair + body hair gets so dry and falls out easily, my thyroid is fine otherwise.
I tried Betaine HCL and it didn't help at all. i'll look into the bile acids but as far as stress goes I don't know what to do, I'm in therapy but no one seems to be able to help

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
Icanbeatthis - Okay, well in that case, you definitely sound hypoadrenal. You'll probably need a prescription for hydrocortisone (5 to 10 mg). Would suggest you take Quercetin with Bromelian in the meantime also.
For more info, you can read the following article which is mostly about allergies, but the resolution is addressing low adrenal function:

Once your adrenal glands are up to par again, you'll be just fine with iodine.

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
CS I have similar symptoms to Icanbeatthis it seems, in that I have low energy in the mornings and better energy at night. Not sure if I have had the iodine problem. Are they any other options other than getting prescription hydrocortisone? My doctors are usually very unhelpful.
Would being stricter on diet, vit c + salt, brewers yeast, ashwaghanda, zinc, magnesium, vit a and cold showers do anything?

Re: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (Constipation)
Is hydrocortisone safe? I don't want to be on that for life... Would that be a temporary situation and would my adrenals pick back up after a while?
How would all of that relate to my hair?
