Natural way to increase uptake
You guys recommend a lot of stuff for health improvement. I do believe many products talked about here are good, but I wonder what I can eat in order to perhaps slow down metabolism a bit and most importantly: INCREASE UPTAKE of the stuff I already eat.
Any natural way available to do this?

I think Apple Cider Vinegar helps with this. I use a tablespoon of Bragg's every morning.

Misirlou - Digesttive Enzymes and Betaine HCL would improve uptake and assimilation of your diet.
Re: Natural way to increase uptake
A cleanse to clean your intestines and chewing your food into soup. The further you break your food down while chewing you greatly increase the amount of particles that will be exposed to your intestinal wall. This is why a lot of folks use blended drinks or juicing to increase the uptake of vitamins and minerals. Increasing the amount of greens you eat will naturally increase the acidity of your stomach acid. This helps to further break food down. I myself consume blended drinks and mineralizing raw green powders.

What do you mean exactly by uptake? I have some ACV, can this be used to help my hair?

The concept has gone beyond "you are what you eat" to "you are what you digest". If your body is clogged or your food is chewed once and swallowed you will not receive the full nutritional content of that food. I think he is looking for ways to optimize food digestion and absorption.

Re: Natural way to increase uptake
OK so we have:
- Digestive Enzymes
- Betaine HCL
- ACV
- Chew your food thoroughly
I would add:
- A good probiotic
- Eat plenty of fiber and drink plenty of water
- I've also heard that you shouldn't drink TOO much water when you are eating because it can hinder digestion by diluting stomach acid, but I've heard conflicting opinions on that one...

Re: Natural way to increase uptake
I've heard that juicing increases the uptake by a factor of ten. It's probably an estimate. All the enzymes and lack of fiber allow it to get absorbed for example.
Probiotics as mentioned help digest food that is not completely digested.
Some digestive formulas will contain sources of Bile, Pancreatin (contains all the basic enzymes), and Betaine HCL.
I heard many stories on the water theory, too much or too little. What's the answer? I'm not sure, but this study on rats may provide a clue.
